It was the same thing every day for Teru Mikami: wake up, work, eat, sleep, and repeat. Day in, and day out, it was always the same; nothing ever changed. That was, until one day, something happened. It was the sudden realization that every person he seemed to have deemed evil would be taken care of—would be killed off.

It was as if someone could hear him.

He wondered if he was special.

If it were just a coincidence.

But in the end, to him, it didn't matter. He knew that divine judgement would be brought upon all evil. And if it wasn't, then someone had take it up themselves to punish evil—the very reason why he became a prosecutor. It was the role of the prosecutor to see that evil was brought to justice, an ideal job for Teru.

Teru currently smirked.

    But, then...

    God came before me.

It had just been a normal day for him, having just gotten off of work, when it happened: a newspaper article, telling of someone by the alias Kira killing off a stave of evil-doers. In that moment, he knew that everything that had been happening around him hadn't been coincidence after all since as it turned out, someone had hear him.

Who knew it would be God Himself though?

    It was divine justice.

God had been watching me. He had seen how I did not surrender to evil, reaching out His hand and punishing the evil people for me.

Once I realized that, I started frequenting places where God was bound to be watching.

    And then it happened.

Teru smiled to himself as he held the black notebook in his hands, the words 'Death Note' scrawled in white ink on the top, Rem lurking behind him in the shadows.

"God recognized me, as I had always hoped. Not only that, but He found me worthy of sharing His power to eliminate evil," he smiled wickedly, now sitting at a large desk at the end of a long, sterile lit hallway, the journal open in front of him, a pen in hand and writing as he spoke. "With this, it doesn't matter if I can't hear His voice. I shall figure out what Kira wants and carry out His will."

Rem had said nothing up till that point, having nothing to even mention to the clearly deranged man as he muttered the same word over and over again.

   "Delete, delete, delete, delete..."

    (Y/N)...

    How can I trust her?

With Misa's life, or even my own?

Tilting her narrow head to the right, her yellow eye contracted as she continued staring at Teru, her purple lips having parted to show the two small fangs that hung lower than the rest of her teeth that caught in the white, overhead lights.

     No.

If I let these doubts keep clouding my judgement, I will only make a mistake that will hinder Misa's chances of being able to live a normal life.

    I cannot let that happen.

So, (L/N)(Y/N), I will listen to you for now.

However, as I have mentioned before, fail to protect Misa, and your own life will end.

As this declaration glanced through the mind of the Shinigami, (Y/N) currently didn't feel any sort of impending doom at the moment. Instead, she was in her bed staring at L beside her, both of them naked under the sheets yet when intertwined with one another, feeling no chill in the air. She stared at the man, marveling at how this was the first time that she had ever seen him sleep. As an insomniac, it was obvious he didn't sleep much, but as a human, he needed it to survive.

She had never seen him sleep, though.

Especially not in front of another.

    She smiled.

Knowing that it meant that he trusted her, she gently brushed her fingers through his dark hair. She found him absolutely endearing, especially when he acted so nervous when wanting to go for two more rounds. Considering he had no sexual experience before, and had no outlet for any desires he may have had, it made sense to her.

Laying her head down to rest on his chest, she closed her eyes, eventually, her breathing evening out, a clear sign that she was asleep.

    L's eyes snapped open.

It was true that he had been asleep for a time, but he had always been a light sleeper, and when feeling (Y/N)'s fingers in his hair, he awoke. Of course, he didn't let her know that, instead practically melting under her touch, his hands itching to touch her back. He refrained however, instead just relishing the way she felt against him.

And when she was finally asleep, he shifted so he could sit up, his dark eyes boring into her form.

She looked absolutely ethereal to him.

The curtains of the room were parted, so the moon was shining through and onto her body, her (S/C) skin gleaming in the light and making her look like that of an angel.

    It was an intoxicating sight.

"Oh, (Y/N)," he murmured as he cupped her face, swallowing thickly when she nuzzled into his hand, feeling the lower part of his body twitch in desire. "You have no idea what you do to me... no idea at all..."

    L was pleased with himself.

In one fell swoop, he was able to claim (Y/N) as his. He knew that there were still certain things that needed to be done concerning Light Yagami and Rin Nakashima, but he knew that they could be completed at a slow pace considering his accomplishment. For the first time in his life, he felt as if he could completely open up to someone and reveal the dark side to himself that he so rarely presented.

    Something about (Y/N) was different.

Sometimes, he felt as if she could see through him at times.

She incited something within him that drove him to the absolute point where he could no longer turn back. However, from the new plethora of emotions she gave him, from the feeling she gave him, from the way she made him feel, he knew he would never want to turn back anyways.

"You're mine, (Y/N)..." L murmured softly in the dark. "In body and soul... forever."
