    "Um... yes?" (Y/N) blinked in surprise that same evening after visiting Misa, opening the door of her house to see Watar standing there with his bowler hat pressed to his chest, the rain behind him coming down in torrents that made the road slick and treacherous. "What is it, Watari?"

She was surprised to see the older gentleman at her doorstep, even more so by his next words.

"Ryuzaki has decided that he no longer feels that you're safe so close to Yagami Light, and asks if you would come back to Headquarters," Watari explained to her briefly, gesturing with a gloved hand down to the waiting car. "He says that he would feel much more at ease if he knew that you were somewhere that Yagami Light couldn't easily access."

    She frowned.

    After meeting with Misa just hours earlier, she had instructed the girl to give up ownership of her Death Note. Before losing all of her memories, though, she would then mail the notebook to Teru with specific instructions to begin killing again as Kira—this plan was just like how Light almost fooled Near in the anime. The only difference was that (Y/N) had Misa instruct Teru to also write down a criminal's name like he would any other heart attack victim. But only after the criminal's death was he then to write down that said criminal had killed Rin exactly like how he was murdered.

    It was a risk.

    But she was willing to take it.

"Yeah," (Y/N) nodded, straightening. "Sure, I can come back. Give me a minute."

Allowing Watari inside, she brewed him a warm cup of tea before ascending the stairs to pack up her things that she would have to take back. Lugging her suitcase back downstairs, Watari waited until she locked her door before opening his umbrella and escorting her to the car. It wasn't long before the two arrived at Headquarters, (Y/N) walking down to the main hall after placing her suitcase in her old room, finding L sitting in a chair with his knees pulled up to his chest staring at the computer monitors.

"Ryuzaki, I'm certain you brought me here for a reason other than my safety," she exhaled softly as she sat beside him, propping her head up. "What is it that you need?"

"All I needed was to ensure your safety," he murmured in reply, his dark eyes boring into her own. "That's the only reason I've brought you back here. And, in regards to what we were talking about previously, I have an idea on how we approach this situation regarding Light."

"'Situation?'" (Y/N) quoted with raised brows, leaning back in her chair. "Ryuzaki, we don't even know if he committed the murder."

    "Again... you're defending him."

    "I'm his friend, what else am I supposed to do?"

    The two stared at each other, much like they did before when discussing the same topic in the other room with Soichiro a few days before. And just like last time, L could feel his irritation towards Light growing. But then again, he now had (Y/N) back in his grasp again—something he had been desperate to do since the absolving of the Kira case. With her back at Headquarters, Light was very limited when it came to contact with her.

L would fully abuse this.

"Ryuzaki..." (Y/N) gave L a pointed look as she placed a hand on his knee. "Ever since the start, you've been suspicious of Light, and he ticked all the boxes so I could see why. But... being Kira, along with murdering Rin, isn't like him."

L wasn't listening by that point.

He could hear his own breathing as his eyes glanced down to where she was touching him.

    "I... understand," was all he said.

He didn't even know what he was saying.

    All he could focus on was (Y/N)'s touch. Something stirred within him when she looked at him like that, when her words lowered to that of a murmur. He wondered time and time again if her were sick whenever this feeling presented itself around her, but now he could say for certain he knew what it was.

    "Ryuzaki!" (Y/N) stood, placing both hands on his cheeks to force his eyes to meet hers. "Are you even listening to me right now?"

    He wasn't.

    It was obvious he wasn't.

    His gaze then dropped down to her lips.

    She noticed.

    Moving to drop her hands, she startled when his own grabbed her wrists so he could then place her hand on his cheek. His eyes closed as he practically nuzzled her hand, her palm moving to his lips so he could then brush a chaste kiss upon her flesh. Heat creeped to (Y/N)'s face quickly and violently, flustered to the point where she wasn't even sure she could make coherent sentences.

    She hadn't expected this.

    She hadn't expected this at all.

    "How is it that you've managed to enrapture me to this point?" L finally declared in a low murmur, his dark eyes boring into hers as he let one of his legs fall until his foot lay flat on the cold metal floor, pushing himself up to eventually stand up so that he was now towering over her. "How... (Y/N)?"

"...L?" She breathed, her eyes widening when he leaned down and placed his hands on the arms of her chair, closing in until their noses touched.

Then, their lips connected.

But when (Y/N) placed her hands on L's shoulders, he expected her to push him away. Instead, she only pulled him in. Who was she to deny a hot man wanting to kiss her? And while L had never been involved with another woman before, she was quite impressed with how satisfied he left her just by kissing her.

He was good.

But then again, it was always the quiet ones.

    L pushed her against the desk until she was practically lying flat on her back, his nimble fingers gliding along her waist and hips in a pleasurable way that sent shudders along her spine. He broke away from her lips so he could then begin kissing down her jaw and along her neck, his fingers then creeping up her shirt.

    There was no denying what was happening.

    Watari was in another room entirely far away consumed with other work, so he wouldn't walk in. And Headquarters was barred off from anyone else. It was just the two of them, alone, to do whatever they pleased.

    L tugged on the hem of (Y/N)'s shirt, a clear signal asking if he could take it off.

    She complied.
