    God... is a woman?

Teru Mikami stared with wide eyes at his computer screen that showcased (Y/N)'s picture. His curiosity about the Death Note, along with the specific instructions sent to him, grew to the point where he could no longer stop himself from investigating everything he could about how it ended up in his possession—the thought consumed him until he could no longer sleep at night. Barely letting his fingertips brush against the warm surface, he let out a breath when finding he wasn't dreaming.

This... is certainly unexpected.

But that doesn't change anything.

God, Kira... I shouldn't have assumed it was male but female.

They, as much as male, are the future.

And this female right here... is my God that I will serve until the end of my days.

Chuckling softly as his intense dark gaze stayed pinned to the picture, the sound all but would have sounded wicked to any onlookers. Teru's fingers twitched before curling into fists, his knuckles whitening from how taut he pulled them. He was glad of his role as prosecutor—he had been able to uncover many things about (Y/N) just by running her face through a simple facial recognition test.

He smiled to himself as his eyes scanned over the information about her.

(L/N)(Y/N)...

I see She came from (C/N), is fluent in Japanese, has a record of petty theft, and... is a college student? She's a year younger than me... yet has already brought the world to its knees.

    As expected of my God.

Teru continued to soak in all information regarding (Y/N) in an obsessive manner, not noticing that Rem who had appeared behind could see everything that he was doing. Immediately, worry and doubt began to creep up within her like a virus as soon as she saw (Y/N)'s picture.

He knows.

(L/N)(Y/N)... he knows that she possessed my notebook.

"Shinigami," Teru suddenly announced, making Rem look up as a small breath of air left her lips. "Was this the previous owner of the Death Note?"

"I cannot say."

"Well, even if you don't tell me, I'm sure She's the one. I'm sure She's God."

Hm...

It's only natural that his logic would be skewed as he wouldn't know who else would have also possessed the notebook—mine or Ryuk's.

"And if she's not?" Rem countered.

"Then I will kill her," Teru smiled, holding up his pen before letting the object twirl around his nimble fingers. "It would only be a hindrance to my God if She wasn't them, and it would only be a hindrance to me as She would then know what I was chosen for."

"You talk as if you'll approach her."

"I want to," he admitted, closing the notebook before glancing up to meet her one yellow eye. "But She is probably in a compromised position. I would only expose Her if I was to meet with Her."

"Then what are you going to do?"

"Continue killing—continue following Her orders to delete anyone else in Her way."

Slipping the journal into one of the drawers of his desk, Teru readjusted his tie before standing up and sliding his hands into his pockets, casually walking away from the scene where he laid out his murders. And unaware that her identity had now been exposed, (Y/N) collapsed onto her bed with a loud sigh, Ryuk floating above her with an amused grin. After the entire predicament between L and Light, the Task Force was able to focus on trying to pinpoint who it was that was now Kira.

There were still no leads, however.

    (Y/N) sighed again.

I wonder what it will take for them to look at Teru Mikami...

Shaking off the thought, her head turned so she was now looking at Ryuk, the God of Death mindlessly munching on an apple as he floated, staring blankly at nothing since she too, was doing nothing.

"Hey, Ryuk," she called.

"Huh?" He grunted.

"You and Rem are both Shinigami, and you might be more alike than different, so I want to ask you something," she began as she sat up, then crossing her legs in a crisscross-applesauce position.

"Sure, but, me and Rem aren't the same at all," he chuckled dryly, twirling the apple stem now before biting the whole thing off. "For one thing, I would never be stupid enough to let myself care for a human. And another thing, I wouldn't let that human be the cause of my death."

"Hm... and why is that?"

"Because I'm not ready to die, nor do I want to."

"Ryuk, I've never mentioned this, but you've lived for thousands of years, maybe more, and yet you've grown bored, so... why keep living like that?"

"I already told you, kid. I was bored. And then I came here, simple really."

Simple, my butt.

Immortality is kind of sad, to be honest.

"I know you don't want it, or need it, but I pity you," (Y/N) rolled her eyes with a smirk as she rested her elbow against her knee so she could prop up her head, then closing her eyes entirely. "Especially when you're stuck here with me now."

"I knew there was a possibility I'd be stuck with a human who'd I have to wait till death to be free," Ryuk shook his head, chains rattling. "But since you're so interesting, I'll let it slide."

    "Whatever," she chuckled.

Her mind then moved on to Rem.

I wonder if she's alright...

And I wonder if she isn't second-guessing herself and me.

That could ruin everything.

"So, what did you want to ask me?" Ryuk asked lazily, having not forgotten what had sparked the twos' conversation.

"Ah..." (Y/N) hummed with a tilt of her head before giving a sheepish smile. "Sorry, I forgot."
