The Collector
(Y/n Pov)
Adrein and I had given up searching his bag for the book, so I was scrolling on my phone while Adrein practiced on his piano when there was a knock on the door. I sat up from Adrein's bed, and Adrein answered. "Come in."
As the door opened, Natalie and my father walked in. "Good, you're both here." As he turned to us, my father said, then looked out the window. "Please sit together." He told us, and Adrien sat beside me on the bed.
"I know what you both did." Our father told us as Natalie took out her tablet. She showed us pictures of Adrien opening the secret safe, taking the book out, and putting it in his bag. Then they showed us pictures of me not coming out of my room, the empty room, and Adrien carrying my bag.
"Adrien, Why did you take the book?" My father asked, with his back still towards us. "I... I just wanted to know what you were hiding behind that important portrait. You.. you never told me about those things. I was intending to give it back to you, I swear! But then... I lost it." Adrien answered honestly as he looked to the ground, I held his hand in support, but then my father asked me.
"Y/n, where were you last night, and why did your boyguard have to pick you up?" I, too, looked down, "I was at a friend's." I told him honestly, hoping he would drop it.
"Which friend?"
"Lucy."
"Is she in your class?"
"No," I didn't correct him.
"Do I know her?"
"No," I wanted to say, "like all my other friends, but I bit my tongue as I knew I would only be in more trouble.
"How can I possibly trust either of you again?" Our father asked us, "Sorry... I'll get you another copy." Adrien told our father, but he didn't take it well, "It's one of a kind! The book's the source of my inspiration." Our father yelled at us.
"I didn't know that. We hardly know anything about you, Father." Adrien spoke honestly, but once again, he did not like that. "You won't be returning to school. You'll-" My father was interrupted as my phone rang, "Sorry." I told him as I reached into my pocket and declined the phone call from Lu.
"Who was that?" My father asked me, slightly looking back at us. "Lucy," I told him, and then he spoke. "Call her back and put it on speaker." My father told me, and I complied. My hand shook as I turned my phone on and looked for Lu's number.
After two rings, he answered. "Hey, Lucy. Sorry, I was...busy. What's up?" I lied, but there was no getting out of it now.
"Hey, N/n. Sorry to bother you, but my mom wanted me to ask you. What do you want for dinner? You know how she is, and she also wanted me to tell you not to forget your spare clothes." As Lu stopped speaking, I knew I was done.
"Yeah, you know I'm fine with-" I started talking when Natalie grabbed my phone. "Hey!" I shouted in response, but a glare from my father told me to keep my mouth shut.
"Who's this? I thought I would be talking to 'Lucy'." My father told Lu as he turned the speaker off and held my phone to his ear.
"I want to know your real name, as I want to know why you're expecting her."
"I am her father."
"My name is Gabriel Agreste, and I've decided I don't want you to be near her, so I suggest you lose this number as she will no longer be allowed to go to your place Or see you again. Goodbye." My father said before hanging up. I felt tears going down my face as I saw my dad give Natalie my phone, and then she put it in her bag.
