Parker never listened when people told her that she had a habit of rushing headlong into danger. She was just good at it. Why stop doing something you are naturally good at?
Someone had killed Justin, and James was missing. And although Parker knew that she had explicitly threatened to kill him if anyone died because of him, she was, unfortunately, not the one to do it. A bruised cheekbone and the loss of Aaron's arm didn't mean he deserved to die. Even if she wanted to kill both of them, sure, he deserved more than a hit with a dirty pot, but there weren't enough people left in the world for more to be killed.
"Guess they're going to execute every last one of us!" Jed, someone else who was close to Justin, yelled, pushing his way to the front of a very pissed-off crowd of Saviors. "Just like Justin!"
The group was divided into two sides, and Parker was face-to-face with a wall of upset people. Laura, one of the former Saviors, who had proven to be on her side countless times, stood beside her.
"This is not going to end well," Parker said under her breath as her eyes swept over the restless horde. Some of them were armed with makeshift weapons and various construction tools.
"Let's try to separate them before it gets worse," Laura jogged ahead as a fight on the other side broke out. "Hey! Guys, come on," Laura said, pushing the people back. "No... no."
"Everybody, calm down!" Parker shouted over the voices of dozens of people. Not a single head turned; all of them were now focused on the fight. "Hey!"
It didn't work, and with the shouts of angry people, the two groups joined together in a clash of flying limbs and clenched fists. Parker tried to separate them until a male voice shouted over everything.
"Hey!" Alden shouted, one of the saviors whom the Hilltop had captured during the war against Negan. "Hey! Stop it! Stop this shit! Stop it!" When the colliding groups froze, Parker, Laura, and Alden pushed their way into the center. Alden took a deep breath, keeping a hand out. "We're going to find out who did this, and we're going to make sure it never happens to us again. Alright?"
"'Us'?" Jed repeated with a scoff, as if he'd been betrayed. Getting in Alden's face, he spat, "You're not one of us anymore."
"'Us' means all of us," Alden stated firmly as he looked around to address everybody there. Jed pulled him around and punched him, making him fall backwards. Parker took a step forward, cutting off his path.
"Go shovel that horseshit to whoever killed Justin!" Jed spat, his eyes locked on Alden from over Parker's shoulder. Parker stood in front of him, and her hand hesitated above her gun, warning Jed not to try anything.
"How about we all take a breath." She suggested, raising an eyebrow when she saw his hand ball up into a tight fist.
"I thought you were supposed to be our leader," Jed shot at her, taking the slightest of steps back. "Any idea where James went? Or is that a mystery too?"
"Enough," Parker ground out, pointing at everybody who was standing behind him as well. "Turn around. All of you."
"I don't think so, Park," Jed looked down at her with a 'tsk'. "Why don't you go ahead and yank out that roscoe? Pop me right here?" He stepped closer to her until they were toe to toe, looking down the bridge of his nose at her. "It's better than worryin' about getting it in the back."
"I told you to turn around," Parker said as she took her gun out of its holster. Every person who had a gun did the same. "Your friends are dead because they were worthless assholes. Whoever killed them probably had a pretty damn good reason. When I find out who did it I'll gladly thank them for doing this camp a favor."
