"I'm sorry, I know I had to be back by nightfall, but I fell asleep," Parker exclaimed as she ran towards the tent she shared with Daryl. "Nobody woke me up before leaving either."
"Okay," Daryl responded, his words short. A look in his eye she couldn't completely place. "We found out who killed Justin."
"Yeah?" Parker said curiously. "Rick must have forgotten to mention that. Who was it?"
"Cyndie and a couple of girls from Oceanside," Daryl muttered, barely meeting her gaze. "They wanted revenge for the death of their families."
"And you let them?" Parker pieced together. "Is that why I've been hearing people say that Arat is dead too? What about James? Did they kill him too?"
"Do you want to know what he told them before murdering their families?" Daryl finally looked up at her from where he'd stayed seated. "Said 'no exceptions.' Ring any bells?" Her face fell completely at the all too familiar words. The two words that never ceased to haunt her. "They deserved it."
Parker went back in time to a moment she didn't want to relive. She saw Negan standing in that clearing, silhouetted against the headlights of the vehicles parked around all of them, the baseball bat dripping with blood as he swung it over his shoulder and hit his target.
"God, that makes me feel sick." She murmured, putting a hand over her mouth as she sat down.
"And all them Saviors left," He continued, shrugging his shoulder slightly as he pulled out one of his knives.
"I'd like to say I blame them," Parker spoke, glancing over at him. "But I don't."
"How are the twins?" Daryl asked her, not sounding like he seemed fully interested. "They alright?"
"They seemed fine," She nodded, her eyebrows furrowing as he stood up and walked past her towards the front of the tent. "They miss their dad," She added while standing up to follow him out.
"When the bridge is finished, we'll go back full-time."
"I missed you last night," Parker said. "Waking up without you is a strange feeling."
"Don't fall asleep in Alexandria again and we'll be fine," Daryl responded, kissing Parker's forehead.
"I love you," She told him, her voice dying off with each word as he walked away.
"Love you too," Daryl shot over his shoulder as he sat down on a stump, pulling an apple from his vest pocket and cutting slices off with his knife. Parker watched Rick as he made his way through the camp.
He knew what he was doing, and to this day Parker still had faith in her brother, but even so, she could see Daryl's faith in him wavering. Since the decision to forgive Negan, they had been at odds and Parker wasn't sure any of them would ever be the same again.
As Rick walked past them with a walkie-talkie in his hands, talking about delaying Maggie at the gates of Alexandria, Parker cursed quietly to herself as she looked at Daryl.
"What the hell is she doing?" She questioned him, now understanding why he was acting the way he was. He had something to do with this.
"Ending this," Daryl answered, standing up. "Like it was supposed to be done,"
"Ending what?" She walked after Daryl as he headed over to Rick.
"What's wrong?" Daryl asked, causing Rick to stop before he could mount his horse.
"Maggie's headed to Alexandria," Rick said from over his shoulder. "She's about to do something she might regret."
"Why would she want to go to Alexandria? That's where- she's going to kill Negan. Isn't she?" Parker directed the question at Daryl, assuming he knew exactly what was happening.
