34. Generations of Trouble

It's now been about a week since Juliet has came home. Everyone is readjusting well to her being back. Dave has been meaning to bring something up with Amanda. But he also wants to get Dennis' opinion on the matter. Dave decided to have Dennis come over, it would be easier. It's currently Sunday so everyone has work and school tomorrow.

Up in Cody's room, he is texting James. Cody got his number before he left school Friday. Cody wanted James to come over, but didn't know if that was too soon. Since they just met and became friends on Friday. Cody opens a text he just got from James:

James: "would you want to come over? my moms want to meet you! :)"

Cody smiles out of happiness and is surprised at the same time. Cody texts back, saying he'll ask his parents.

Cody walks downstairs quickly, trying to find his parents. Finally he finds his parents in there bedroom. "Mom? Dad?" Cody asks. "Hey bud, what's up?" Amanda asks as she folds laundry. "James wanted to know if I could come over." Cody says. "Cody it's Sunday, you have school tomorrow." Dave says. "But it's just for a few hours, not spending the night." Cody explains. "Alright, what time does he want you to come?" Dave asks. "I didn't ask." Cody says. "We'll ask, and then we'll decide depending on what time it is." Dave says. "Yes sir." Cody says going into the hallway. Cody texts James asking what time to come:

Cody: what time do your moms want me to come?

James: they said as soon as you can!

Cody: um ok.. my parents want a specific time.

James: oh alright! let me ask!

James: they said come at one!

Cody: okay! i'll go ask! :)

Cody goes back into his parent's room, and explains what him and James talked about. "He said around one." Cody says. Amanda looks at the time on her phone. "Alright, I'll take you in twenty minutes." Amanda says. "Thank you mom." Cody smiles, going back up to his room. Cody goes back to his room, changing into some sweat pants and a t-shirt. Cody was still in his pajamas, so he needed to change.

After Cody changes he goes into Juliet's room. Cody knocks before he walks in. Juliet's in her bed, with her laptop in her lap. "Hey." Juliet says as Cody walks in. "Hey. What are you doing?" Cody asks. "Working on homework. What are you up to?" Juliet asks. "Mom's going to take me to James' house in a few minutes." Cody says. "That sounds fun! Do you mind if I ask you a question?" Juliet asks. Cody shakes his head no, and waits for his sister to ask the question. "Do you like James as more than a friend?" Juliet asks. "I mean it's still really early, but I feel like it could become something more if he likes me like that." Cody says. Juliet nods and smiles. "You know you can talk to me about anything, right?" Juliet says. "Yeah, I know." Cody smiles, and gives his big sister a hug.

Around ten minutes later Cody and Amanda leave. "Find out what time I need to pick you up." Amanda says as they get to James' house. "Yes ma'am. Thank you, I love you." Cody says. "I love you too. Behave while you're here." Amanda says. "Yes ma'am." Cody says and gets out, going up to James' front door. James has a pretty nice house, it's two stories with three garages.

Cody walks up to the door, and knocks. James opens the door for Cody and has him come in. "Hi!" James says with a big smile. "Hi." Cody says. "My mom's are in here." James says bringing Cody into the living room. "Mom. Momma. (Beverly is mom, Clarissa is momma.) This is Cody!" James says. "Oh Cody! Nice to meet you!" Clarissa says. "James has said so many nice things about you!" Beverly smiles. "Nice to meet you too ma'am." Cody smiles. "Oh please call me Clarissa, we're very informal." Clarissa smiles. Cody smiles back. "My parents like me to use ma'am and sir. They think it shows respect." Cody says. "Oh, then it's fine. I wouldn't want you getting into trouble with them." Clarissa says. Cody smiles and nods. "So we made some lunch, we'd like you to join us." Beverly says. "I'd love to." Cody says and follows them into the dining room.
