"What bit you in the ass?" Gawin chuckled when he saw First angrily smashing eggs into a bowl as if each one of them caused him personal offence.

"Nothing." First grumbled, aggressively whisking them until small drips splattered on his shirt. "Shit."

"Calm down, it's just eggs." Gawin reached for a paper towel, and quickly dabbed First's shirt dry. "Move, I'll do it."

"Are you sure-"

"Just scram." Gawin gently shoved his hip against First's and placed the pan on the stove. "You know, you can talk to me. What's going on?" He poured the eggs in, making an omelette.

"I'm not sure if you especially would like to hear about my personal stuff." First loaded his plate with rice; he liked how Gawin seasoned it with black sesame.

"Hey now." Gawin draped the omelette over his rice. "We were friends with benefits. If you drop the benefits, we're still left with 'friends' aren't we?"

First reached for his phone again. "The guy I like-" Gawin sighed slightly upon hearing it. "-is ace. I mean, aromantic, not asexual. We have sex but...just look." First sighed, and showed Gawin the short text exchange. "Fuck, I don't expect him to love me, but he promised to meet today. I just.." He sighed again, digging into his food. "I'm not used to being ditched like that. It stinks."

Gawin resisted rolling his eyes, and reached for a fork to try a piece of his omelette. "You know what your problem is?"

"Are you gonna say sluttiness?" First grunted.

"No." Gawin splattered some fish sauce on his piece. "You take a lot, and you give almost nothing back. And I don't mean material stuff. I mean the way you like people. You like them, but you demand they love you and give you all the attention and affection, and you want it from everybody. You're like an unloved child who desperately clings to those around him. It's a little pitiful actually. You say you're polyamorous, but what you are infact is a cheater, a man who just fucks around and doesn't get commitment from anyone. Because once they find out, it's over. You are a dishonest person."

"And here I thought you're going to comfort me." First felt a lump in his throat. Those words, however true, were still hurtful to hear, and he stared at his food, suddenly the hunger almost insignificant.

"I said we're friends." Gawin gently lifted his chin. "I won't lie to you. You fucked up. With your ex, with me, probably with others too. I feel sorry for you. But I'm a friend; I won't sugarcoat things and lie to you. If you want to be poly; fine. But tell everyone you start your relationship with from the start. Don't go around lying to people and then expecting them to go along with your desires."

"Win..." First looked down at the calloused hand that held his face. "If I broke up with him earlier...if I told you how I am...would we...?"

Gawin's hand retracted, and the older shrugged. "I honestly don't know. I've been asking myself that question, and I just don't know. I just know that if we tried it again, if we tried now, I wouldn't want you with other people."
