The next morning, Taylor woke up with a new resolve. Her mother's words from the night before echoed in her mind: "Maybe he wants to be close to you, and the only solution he thinks of is to pick on you." Taylor had barely slept, tossing and turning as she mulled over everything that had happened. But she had decided on one thing, she wasn't going to let Travis's bullying define her anymore. Ignoring him was easier said than done, but it was worth a try.

As she walked through the school doors, Taylor felt a mixture of anxiety and determination. The familiar, oppressive weight of the school environment pressed down on her, but she tried to shake it off. She kept her head up and her shoulders back, a small but significant change.

In first period, she deliberately chose a seat in the middle of the classroom instead of her usual spot at the back. As the teacher droned on about geometry, Taylor made an effort to pay attention, though her mind wandered to the events of the previous day. Travis's words still stung, but she reminded herself of her new approach: "Ignore him. Don't give him the reaction he wants."It was harder than she thought. Every time the door opened, she felt a jolt of anxiety, fearing it might be Travis walking in. But when he eventually did, she kept her focus on the board, pretending not to notice him at all.

The rest of the morning passed uneventfully. Taylor found herself slipping back into her old habits, avoiding eye contact with everyone, but she fought against it. During a brief break between classes, she spotted Selena and Abigail in the hallway. Taking a deep breath, she approached them.

"Hey, guys," Taylor greeted, her voice wavering slightly.

Selena beamed at her. "Hey, Taylor! You heading to lunch soon?"

"Yeah," Taylor replied, managing a small smile. "I was actually thinking about that study group you mentioned yesterday. I'd love to join."

"Really?" Abigail's eyes lit up with surprise and happiness. "That's awesome! We'll have so much fun."

Taylor nodded, feeling a tiny flicker of hope. "Yeah, I think it'll be good for me."

The three of them headed to the cafeteria together, and for the first time in what felt like forever, Taylor found herself actually looking forward to something. At their usual table, Selena and Abigail chattered away about their weekend plans, filling the space with lighthearted banter. Taylor listened, occasionally chiming in, though she still felt like she was on the outside looking in. But she was trying, and that was what mattered.

As they ate, Taylor's eyes inadvertently drifted to the other side of the cafeteria, where Travis was sitting with his friends. She quickly looked away, reminding herself to focus on her friends. But out of the corner of her eye, she noticed something strange. Travis wasn't laughing or joking with his group like usual. Instead, he was watching her.

Taylor's stomach twisted, and she forced herself to concentrate on Selena's story about a disastrous date she'd been on. But she could feel Travis's eyes on her, and it made her skin prickle with discomfort. "Why is he watching me?" she wondered, her anxiety starting to rise. But then she took a deep breath and pushed the thoughts aside. "Ignore him Taylor. Just ignore him."

Travis, on the other hand, was wrestling with his own confusion. He had expected Taylor to react like she always did, shrinking into herself, giving him that wounded look that made something inside him twist uncomfortably. But today was different. She hadn't even glanced in his direction. It was like he didn't exist, and for some reason, that bothered him more than her usual responses. "What's going on with her?" he wondered, feeling a pang of frustration mixed with something he couldn't quite identify. He had always assumed that Taylor was an easy target, someone he could push around without much thought. But now, he wasn't so sure.

As lunch ended, Travis found himself distracted, his thoughts returning to Taylor more often than he liked. He watched her leave with her friends, still puzzling over her behavior. "Was she really just ignoring him? Did she not care about his taunts anymore?" The idea that she might be slipping out of his control unsettled him in ways he couldn't fully understand.

The rest of the day dragged on for both of them. Taylor kept her head down, focusing on her classes, though she couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. Every time she passed Travis in the hallway, she felt his eyes on her, but she refused to give him the satisfaction of looking back. The tension between them simmered, unspoken but palpable.

When the final bell rang, Taylor felt a wave of relief. She had made it through the day without breaking down, without letting Travis get to her. It was a small victory, but it felt significant. She said goodbye to Selena and Abigail at her locker, promising to text them about the study group later.

As she walked home, Taylor felt a strange mix of emotions. She was proud of herself for trying something new, for not letting Travis's words destroy her, but she was also exhausted. The effort of holding herself together, of pretending that everything was fine, was taking its toll. By the time she reached her house, she felt like she could collapse.

Travis, meanwhile, was still brooding over the day's events. He had tried to provoke Taylor in small ways, throwing a crumpled piece of paper at her in class, making a snide remark about her shoes, but she hadn't taken the bait. It was infuriating. "What's her deal?" he thought, frowning as he walked home. He couldn't figure her out, and it made him more determined to get a reaction from her.

But beneath his frustration, there was a nagging feeling he couldn't shake. He didn't want to admit it, but part of him was starting to question why he was so obsessed with getting Taylor's attention in the first place. Why did it matter to him if she reacted or not? And why did it bother him so much to see her looking... well, okay?

As the day turned into evening, both Taylor and Travis found themselves lost in thought. Taylor sat at her desk, staring blankly at her homework, her mind drifting to the events of the day.

Travis, on the other hand, paced his room, agitated and restless. He couldn't get Taylor out of his head, and it was driving him crazy.
