The afternoon sun cast a warm glow over Taylor's room as she prepared for the study group. It wasn't just any study group, Selena and Abigail had invited their boyfriends, making it more of a social event than a serious study session. Taylor had been thinking about Travis all day, and the idea of inviting him had crossed her mind more than once.

As she stood in front of her closet, Taylor's thoughts raced. "Should she invite him? Would it be too much?"But then again, it felt like the right step forward in their budding connection. After a moment of hesitation, she decided to text him.

Taylor: Hey, Travis. We're having a study group at my place. Wanna join?

She hit send and felt her heart flutter in anticipation. Within moments, her phone buzzed with his reply.

Travis: Sure. I'll be there. Sounds like fun.

Taylor couldn't help but smile. She quickly turned back to her closet, searching for something to wear. After a few moments of deliberation, she settled on a simple but cute outfit, a soft, cream colored sweater tucked into a plaid skirt that flared slightly at the hem. She paired it with her favorite ankle boots, giving her look a casual yet put together vibe.

The reason they had chosen Taylor's house for the study group was simple, her parents and younger brother, Austin, were out of town for the weekend, visiting some relatives. Taylor had opted to stay behind to catch up on some schoolwork, so she had the entire house to herself. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to host her friends without any interruptions.

When the time came, Taylor's friends arrived first, their boyfriends in tow. The atmosphere was lively as they set up their study materials in the living room. Selena and Abigail were already chatting excitedly when Taylor heard the doorbell ring again. Her heart skipped a beat as she walked to answer it.

There stood Travis, looking effortlessly handsome in a dark hoodie and jeans, his hair slightly tousled as if he'd run his fingers through it on the way over. He flashed her a warm smile, and Taylor felt that familiar flutter in her chest.

"Hey, Taylor," he greeted, his eyes scanning her outfit briefly before he quickly looked away, a faint blush creeping up his neck.

"Hey, Travis. Come on in," Taylor replied, stepping aside to let him enter. As he walked past her, she caught a whiff of his cologne clean, with a hint of something spicy. It made her feel a little lightheaded, but in a good way.

Travis paused for a moment, taking in the surroundings. "Your house is really pretty," he commented, his voice sincere.

Taylor smiled, feeling a bit shy at the compliment. "Thanks. I'm glad you like it."

They made their way to the living room, where the others were already gathered. Selena and Abigail exchanged a knowing glance when they saw Travis, nudging each other as if to say, "This is interesting."

Taylor and Travis sat beside each other on the couch, the space between them almost nonexistent. Despite the group setting, it felt as though they were in their own little world. Taylor pulled out her notebook, trying to focus on the study material, but she couldn't ignore the fact that Travis was sitting so close.

As they worked through the material, Taylor occasionally glanced at Travis, catching him staring at her once or twice. Each time their eyes met, he quickly looked away, his cheeks tinged with a bit of pink. It was clear that he was having just as much trouble focusing as she was.

Selena, who was sitting across from them, couldn't help but notice the way Travis kept stealing glances at Taylor. She nudged Abigail with her elbow, a smirk playing on her lips. Abigail grinned back, clearly enjoying the subtle but undeniable connection between the two.
