Travis sat at the lunch table with his friends, trying to focus on the conversation. Despite their attempts at engaging him, his thoughts kept drifting back to his afternoon with Taylor. The coffee date had been more than just a casual hangout, it had been a genuine connection, one he hadn't expected.

As he picked at his lunch, his friend Jared leaned in with a smirk. "So, Travis, how's the new 'friendship' with Taylor going? Heard you two had a coffee date after school."

Travis stiffened, trying to maintain his composure. "Yeah, we had coffee. It was nice."

His friend Mike chuckled. "Nice? More like you're trying to impress her. You've been pretty obsessed with her lately."

Travis tried to brush it off, but he could feel a defensive edge creeping into his voice. "It's not like that. We're just getting to know each other."

Jared rolled his eyes. "Just getting to know each other? Man, you're really playing the nice guy now, huh?"

Travis's patience was wearing thin. "Why are you guys acting like this? Taylor's not the same person you think she is."

Mike snorted. "Oh, really? The same Taylor you used to bully? What's changed?"

Travis's fists clenched involuntarily, and he shot them a sharp look. "You don't know her like I do. We talked, and she's actually pretty great. So, if you've got a problem with her, you've got a problem with me."

Jared's smirk faltered. "Easy, man. We were just joking around."

"No," Travis said, his voice rising. "I'm serious. I'm tired of the jokes and the gossip. Taylor's been through enough, and I'm not going to sit here and let you guys trash talk her. She's not the same person we thought she is."

His friends fell silent, taken aback by the intensity in Travis's voice. He could feel his heart racing, his emotions running high. The truth was, he cared about Taylor more than he had expected, and he was willing to stand up for her, no matter what.

Mike shifted uncomfortably. "Alright, alright. We get it. We'll lay off."

Travis took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. "Thanks. I just don't want to see her get hurt, not by anyone, especially not by people who don't really know her."

As his friends nodded, Travis's mind was already replaying the moments from the coffee date. The way Taylor had looked at him, the warmth in her smile, it all felt real and new, and he wasn't going to let anyone undermine that.

The bell rang, signaling the end of lunch, and Travis headed to his next class, his thoughts still on Taylor. He had spent so long hiding behind a mask of arrogance and aggression, and now he was ready to be honest with himself and with her.

When the school day ended, Travis found himself eagerly waiting for the moment he could see Taylor again. He had been thinking about her all day, and he wanted to make sure she knew how much he appreciated her.

As Travis approached Taylor, he noticed her looking a bit tired but happy, her face lighting up when she saw him.

"Hey, Taylor," he said with a warm smile. "How's your day going so far?"

Taylor returned his smile, her eyes reflecting a mix of excitement and tiredness. "Hey, Travis. It's been pretty good. Just the usual busy day. How about you?"

Travis shrugged, his smile widening. "It's been alright. Had a few classes, nothing too exciting. I've been looking forward to seeing you though."

Taylor's cheeks flushed slightly at his words. "Oh, really? You've been thinking about me?"
