"Ready for the best pancakes of your life?" Taylor teased, glancing up at Travis with a sleepy smile.

He chuckled, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "I'll believe it when I taste it. But if they're as good as you say, I'll owe your mom a thank you."

They walked into the house, and the smell of warm pancakes hit them instantly. Butter, vanilla, and a hint of cinnamon filled the air, making Taylor's mouth water. She could hear her mom humming softly from the kitchen, already bustling with morning energy.

"There you are!" Andrea called out, turning with a wide smile as they entered the kitchen "Travis, it's so nice to see you. I hope you're hungry, i made enough pancakes to feed an army."

Travis grinned, rubbing the back of his neck a little shyly. "Thank you, Mrs. Swift. And yes, I'm definitely hungry."

Taylor felt a surge of warmth as she watched her mom welcome Travis so openly. Andrea had always been easygoing and understanding. She and Taylor had a close relationship, and Taylor was happy to see how natural it felt to have Travis there with them.

"Sit down, both of you," Andrea said, gesturing to the kitchen table. "I'll get everything ready."

They sat down, and Taylor rested her chin on her hand, watching her mom work. Travis sat beside her, their knees bumping under the table, a small smile on his face. He was clearly a little nervous, but he relaxed as Andrea set a plate of fluffy pancakes in front of him.

"These look amazing, Mrs. Swift," he said, cutting into a pancake and taking a bite. His eyes widened. "Okay, you weren't kidding, Taylor. These are incredible."

Taylor giggled, nudging him. "Told you."

Andrea beamed, setting a small plate of strawberries, whipped cream, and syrup on the table. "Oh, I love a good compliment," she said with a wink. "But please, call me Andrea."

Travis nodded, smiling as he poured a bit of syrup over his stack. Taylor noticed the comfortable silence that settled between them as they ate, with her mom occasionally chiming in with stories and asking Travis about himself. Travis answered her questions thoughtfully, clearly putting in the effort to make a good impression, and Taylor felt her heart swell a little. It was moments like this, these small, warm exchanges, that made her realize how special he was to her.

As they finished eating, Taylor leaned back in her chair with a contented sigh. "Mom, these were perfect, as always."

Andrea waved her off with a smile. "Oh, you're too kind. I'm just happy to have both of you here." She shot a knowing look at Taylor, one of those motherly looks that said she noticed everything, but wasn't going to pry... at least, not yet.

Taylor felt her cheeks warm. "Thanks, Mom."

Andrea gathered the plates and started rinsing them in the sink, giving them a moment alone. Taylor turned to Travis, her voice soft as she murmured, "Thanks for coming with me today. I know it's just breakfast, but... it means a lot."

Travis looked at her, his expression warm and genuine. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

Taylor's heart fluttered, and she reached over to take his hand, giving it a squeeze under the table.

As Andrea finished rinsing the plates, she turned around, leaning casually against the counter with a small, playful smile. Taylor immediately recognized that look, her mom was about to bring something up.
