Taylor slowly opened her eyes, the bright hospital lights making her squint as she adjusted to her surroundings. The sterile smell and the faint beeping of machines brought everything rushing back, the fainting, the hospital, and Travis's worried face. As she turned her head to the side, she found him sitting next to her bed, his eyes fixed on her with a mix of relief and concern.

"Travis?" Her voice was weak, barely above a whisper.

He leaned in closer, his face softening as he reached for her hand. "I'm here, Taylor. How are you feeling?"

She tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness forced her back down. "You should be in school," she murmured, a faint smile playing on her lips despite the exhaustion weighing down her body.

Travis shook his head, squeezing her hand gently. "No way. I'm exactly where I need to be, right here with you." His voice was firm, but there was a tenderness in his tone that made her heart ache.

Taylor's eyes filled with tears, and she looked away, trying to hide the flood of emotions that threatened to overwhelm her. She was embarrassed, ashamed that he had to see her like this. "I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice trembling.

"Don't apologize," Travis said softly, leaning closer so she couldn't avoid his gaze. "You have nothing to be sorry for, Taylor. I'm just glad you're okay."

She bit her lip, fighting back the tears. "I didn't mean for this to happen. I didn't want you to see me like this."

Travis's expression softened even more, and he gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face. "Taylor, I care about you. I'm here because I want to be, because I love you. We'll get through this together, okay?"

Hearing those words again made her heart swell with a mixture of fear and hope. She nodded slowly, her hand gripping his a little tighter as she tried to find the courage to face what was coming next.

A soft knock on the door interrupted their moment, and a middle aged doctor entered the room, his expression professional but kind. "Good morning, Taylor," he greeted, checking the chart at the foot of her bed. "How are you feeling?"

"A little tired," she admitted, glancing nervously at Travis, who was still holding her hand.

"That's to be expected," the doctor said, giving her a reassuring smile. "Taylor, I'm going to be honest with you. Your body is very weak right now. We've run some tests, and it seems like you haven't been getting enough nutrients for quite some time."

Taylor's heart sank, shame and guilt washing over her in waves. She could feel Travis's grip on her hand tighten slightly, as if he was trying to absorb some of the impact for her.

The doctor continued gently, "You're severely malnourished, and that's what caused you to faint. If you don't start taking care of yourself, eating properly, getting the nutrients your body needs, it could lead to more serious health issues."

Taylor nodded, her throat too tight to speak. She knew he was right, but hearing it laid out so plainly made everything feel so much more real. She glanced at Travis, who was watching her with an intensity that made her feel both exposed and protected at the same time.

The doctor's gaze softened. "You're going to need to make some changes, Taylor. This isn't something you can ignore anymore. But the good news is, you have people here who care about you, who want to help you get better. We'll work together to make sure you're on the right path."

"Thank you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

The doctor nodded, giving her a final reassuring smile before he left the room. The silence that followed was thick with unspoken words, but Taylor couldn't bring herself to say anything. She felt raw, vulnerable, like all her secrets had been laid bare.
