"Mr. Jackson, care to tell me why I had Mr. Dolohov come in stating you attempted to use the Cruciatus Curse on a fellow student?"

Alabaster wasn't sure how to respond to that.

He was quiet so Professor Slughorn asked the question again.

Alabaster still didn't know how to answer the question. Repeating the question wasn't going to bring an answer to his head. The words. Nothing.

"Mr. Jackson?"

"Please expell me," Alabaster said. Those were the first words that came out of his mouth. "I do not deserve to be at Hogwarts and nobody wants me to be here."

"Look, my boy, I just want to know the truth," Professor Slughorn said. "Did you cast the curse? Why did you cast the curse? A curse that no student should know and ever want to cast might I add."

Alabaster let out a small sigh. "I attempted to cast the spell, yes." Alabaster thought it was best to be honest. "I know it was wrong and not my place. It did not even work, and I will never use that spell again. I was just...angry. They kept calling me stupid and than they called someone I know stupid when she is not, and I thought they were being quite stupid, and I was sick of all of them and - and I am sick of this school if I am being completely truthful, I strongly dislike it here, and with the boys saying what they were saying, I just snapped. I said the curse and it did not work. I am glad it did not work. I hurt them with my emotions and magic going out of control and I am not proud of it, but I think the best solution here is to expel me."

Alabaster looked up to Professor Slughorn, expecting him to be angry, but he didn't look necessarily shocked by the confession, in fact his expression was one of pity. "Look, my boy, you must know that curse must never be used."

Alabaster quickly nodded. "Yes, I truly apologise. I will not be using it again."

"I think it's best you read up on this," Professor Slughorn slid a small book across the table, but Alabaster was not sure what it could be about. "I think it's important for you to know the truth about that spell."

Alabaster gave a small nod, but it did not erase his confusion. "Are you going to expel me now?"

"No, of course not." Alabaster stared at him, surprised. Did he not hear him about all the things he had done? About the people he had hurt? He was sure that would warrant an expulsion. "It is obvious you didn't know the true issues with the use of the curse and magic does get out of control sometimes, that's the whole point of the school! To teach untrained wizards with big emotions to get it under control. Many muggleborns experience that very feeling, but I suppose it is bound to happen to purebloods too."

"O-Oh..."

"Now, I expect an apology to those you have frightened," Professor Slughorn said.

Alabaster nodded. "Of course sir."

"Now, Mr. Jackson, there is something I need to talk to you about," Professor Slughorn started, but he was interrupted by the door to his office opening after a light knock. "Oh, Poppy! What brings you here?"

Madam Pomfrey immediately noticed Alabaster sitting in the chair across from the Slytherin Head of House and she said, "Well, I was going to speak to you about Mr. Jackson, but as he's already here, do you mind if I speak to him for a mo?"

Professor Slughorn nodded, and gestured for Alabaster to get up from his seat, and he slowly did. "Sure, sure, Poppy, just send him back in here when you're done."

Alabaster exited his Head of House's office and was met with Madam Pomfrey's stern expression, and she signalled for him to follow so he did and she stopped a little ways down, sitting down on one of the bay windows in the corridor.
