"How did it go?" Harry asked as soon as Jasper had found him on the train. Harry was so excited about the news from Slughorn and the prospect of finding out how Jasper's first date went that he was literally bouncing in his seat.
Jasper laughed and took a seat across from him. "It went well, but in the end we both decided we'd be best off as friends."
"Aw, why?" Harry asked.
Jasper said, "Well, we just thought it would be best for the both of us. We both thought we would be better off as friends, we still want to hang out, but..." Jasper shrugged. "We decided we didn't need to date to hang out."
Harry slowly nodded. "Well, I guess I can understand that. Did you still have fun?"
Jasper nodded and smiled. "Yes! We just talked a lot after we flew. Marlene wants to try out for the All-Star team. I think Ilvermorny visiting is so exciting, it's getting closer and closer."
Harry grinned. "Yeah, I can't wait to ask them all about their school!"
Jasper said, "Any plans for the holidays?"
Harry shook his head. "Not really no, do you know if you'll ever be free to hang out?" Harry asked. "Your brothers can come along too if they want to."
"I'll check with my parents," Jasper said. "I'll let you know."
Harry nodded. "Okay!"
Jasper had been noticing how excited his friend was and Jasper had not a clue why. Maybe he was excited to see his parents? That could easily be it, but still, he wanted to ask and just when he was about to the train compartment door opened making both their heads turn. Jasper saw Christopher standing there with his usual grimace.
"Oh, hello," Jasper said and he tried to stain his neck to see if Anthony was there or even one of the Jenkins sisters, but it was just him and Jasper had a feeling he didn't want to sit with two second years. "What's up–"
"Odair, I need to speak to you," Christopher said and he gave a quick look to Harry before looking back at Jasper. "Alone."
Jasper gave a quick look to Harry out of instinct who encouraged him to go because unlike last year, Christopher and their relationship with him had vastly changed. If this had been first year Jasper knew both he and Harry would have had a different reaction to Christopher wanting to talk to Jasper alone.
But a lot had changed in a short time.
Jasper stood up, walked out of the compartment, and Christopher led him to the next empty one and he shut the door once they were both inside. He waved his wand casting a silencing spell to ensure no one outside the compartment could hear the conversation.
Christopher turned to Jasper and said, "So, are you really going to sneak your brothers into school after break?"
"I really want to, I just need to make sure I get them all on board first–" Jasper started, but he was interrupted.
"Alright, alright and if they agree with you, what is your plan?" he asked. "Because you're going to need one. I don't want you just going in with no idea what the hell you're going to do because it isn't just one person, it's four."
"Right, of course–"
"And then you have to somehow hide them," Christopher said, "and that I think is the toughest part of it all. If you succeed in this I have the Ravenclaw secret room ready for them, but if they break the rules and go galavanting like stupid little kids do then...there is nothing we can do. You need to make sure they listen. Do you have a proper excuse if you ever get caught?"
