"Auntie, please don't tell our parents about what he said," Adelaide begged her after Alabaster had been sent upstairs as a form of punishment to think about his words. As Eve had been studying herself (something about the subject of Transfiguration), Adelaide had snuck down the stairs, and overheard almost the whole conversation that her brother had with their auntie. She was still thinking of his words, but she didn't have time to dwell on what he had said. Not now. She needed to make sure that their auntie would not tell their parents about what Alabaster had said. He had gotten into trouble in the past with that halfblood boy from years ago, and she did not want a repeat of that because she had this horrible feeling that their parents' anger would be worse.
"It doesn't matter if I do because he will just state what he said with me to your parents at some point," Aunt Aadira pointed out to her. "Hogwarts has obviously brainwashed him and taught him the wrong things and it is up to me to try to fix it because you are right, I do not want your parents to know. It will just cause a whole debacle that can be avoided."
Adelaide was relieved that their aunt would not be telling their parents and would in fact be trying to fix the problem, but how could she fix something that was so ingrained in Alabaster's mind? She had heard her brother's words. He had sounded quite determined with his position and his views on the situation with the Dark Lord. "What will you do?"
"That's what I am still debating about," she answered, deep in thought. "I think I need to talk to Theodore. He should have been teaching him right from wrong..." She shook her head, disappointed. "I need to talk to him and make sure he is keeping an eye on him and teaching him what is correct. I wish your parents had just done that from the beginning..."
"Why did they tell us something other than the truth?" Adelaide asked because this still puzzled her. Why not just say that purebloods were the only witches and wizards that were proper, and that muggleborns were not real wizards and halfbloods were a living insult of wizard-kind? Why make them fear halfbloods and muggleborns?
"Fear works in mysterious ways..." their aunt murmured. "But that doesn't matter. They have been teaching you what is right. I just need to ensure that Theodore will be teaching him about pureblood culture in the second term. I will be having a long talk with him when he arrives home."
Aadira still didn't think her son just teaching Alabaster about blood purity and its importance would be enough. Like her, he was disgusted with the fact that Lord Voldemort would go as far as to kill anyone who was not a pureblood. Yes, she thought this was extreme, but she knew how to keep her mouth shut about it. Alabaster didn't and she had a bad feeling that his mouth would be the thing to get him into trouble.
She was thinking about the idea of Obliviating Alabaster. His parents had done that before after the situation with the halfblood boy years ago. Maybe erasing his memory about everything he had been told at Hogwarts was the best idea.
She quickly decided that was not a good idea because she knew that would create too many holes in his memory of the school and his experience there. Maybe erasing his memories of what he was told at Hogwarts was a stupid idea, and she thought it was best that he learn what was the truth by listening to the right people, not just because his memory was wiped.
The real problem was that Alabaster didn't like the fact that the Dark Lord was a killer. That was the real problem. If he never knew about him being a murderer then maybe it would be enough push to turn his brain around to the right side of things.
"I know what to do," she said to Adelaide. "You don't have to worry about a thing. I will worry about your brother. I promise everything will end up being okay. You just make sure to keep studying all those books your parents have given you and keep listening to your Mother in your classes."
