After a warm, hearty dinner filled with laughter and conversation, the evening began to wind down. As they finished their desserts, Dai’s mom suddenly spoke up, her tone gentle yet firm. “Shun, Dai, why don’t you two stay the night? You can head back after breakfast tomorrow.”
Shun, feeling the warmth and kindness radiating from Dai’s family, immediately agreed with a nod, his eyes lighting up. “Of course, Mom. We’d love to stay,” he said without hesitation, glancing at Dai, who also smiled and nodded in agreement.
Dai’s mom smiled, clearly pleased. “That settles it then.”
With the evening winding down, Shun and Dai retreated to Dai’s room. Dai rummaged through his closet and pulled out a pair of pajamas, handing them to Shun.
“Here, these should fit you,” Dai said with a grin, but as Shun held them up, they both realized they were a bit too big.
Shun chuckled softly, slipping into the oversized pajamas anyway. The sleeves hung past his wrists, and the pants pooled slightly at his ankles. Dai couldn’t help but burst into laughter, finding Shun’s appearance utterly adorable.
“Kawaii!” Dai exclaimed, holding both of Shun’s cheeks between his hands and pressing a soft kiss on his lips. “You look so cute in my clothes, like a little kid who’s borrowed his big brother’s pajamas.”
Shun pouted playfully, his cheeks flushing as he looked up at Dai. “Well, at least they’re comfy,” he mumbled, trying to sound annoyed but failing miserably as a smile tugged at his lips.
Dai grinned, his heart swelling with affection. “You make anything look good, Shun,” he whispered, brushing a stray lock of hair from Shun’s forehead.
They both climbed into bed, the warmth of their closeness settling over them like a blanket. Dai wrapped an arm around Shun, pulling him close as they lay facing each other. “This feels so right,” Dai murmured, his voice soft and filled with contentment.
Shun nodded, his eyes half-lidded with sleepiness. “Yeah, it really does. I’m so happy we stayed,” he whispered back, snuggling into Dai’s chest.
Just as they were about to drift off to sleep, a soft knock echoed from the door. Shun blinked his eyes open and gently untangled himself from Dai’s embrace. “I’ll get it,” he said, slipping out of bed and padding over to the door.
When he opened it, Dai’s elder sister stood there, grinning widely and holding a large bowl of snacks. “Wanna have a movie night?” she asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Shun’s tiredness vanished instantly, replaced by a burst of excitement. “Of course!” he exclaimed, turning back to Dai. “Come on, Dai! Let’s do it!”
Dai couldn’t help but smile at Shun’s enthusiasm, nodding as he got out of bed. “Alright, let’s go,” he said, taking Shun’s hand as they followed Dai’s sister to the home theater room.
When they arrived, Dai’s elder brother was already there, lounging comfortably on a recliner with a bowl of snacks in his lap. “Took you guys long enough,” he teased, tossing a piece of popcorn into his mouth.
Dai’s sister quickly took charge, scanning through the movie options before landing on a horror film. “This one’s supposed to be really scary,” she said with a mischievous grin as she selected the movie.
As the movie started, the room’s atmosphere shifted from lighthearted to tense. The flickering light from the screen cast eerie shadows across the room, and the ominous music set the stage for the coming scares. Shun, who had been sitting next to Dai, slowly began to inch closer as the suspense built.
When the first jump scare hit, Shun yelped softly, quickly grabbing a pillow and holding it up to his face. His wide eyes peeked over the edge of the pillow, and every time another scare came, he would flinch and hide his face behind it.
Dai, noticing how tense Shun was, couldn’t help but chuckle softly. He gently pried the pillow from Shun’s grip, placing it aside. “It’s okay, I’m right here,” Dai whispered, wrapping an arm around Shun’s shoulders and pulling him close.
Shun clung to Dai, burying his face in his chest whenever the tension in the movie became too much. “Why do I let myself get talked into these things?” Shun mumbled, half-exasperated, half-amused.
Dai’s sister, sitting a few seats away, glanced over and couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re such a scaredy-cat, Shun,” she teased, though there was no malice in her words, only fondness.
Dai’s brother, meanwhile, was completely engrossed in the movie, barely reacting to the scares as he munched on his snacks. “This is nothing,” he said, sounding almost disappointed. “I’ve seen scarier.”
Despite the scary scenes, Shun found himself laughing along with Dai’s sister’s commentary and Dai’s brother’s unimpressed reactions. Even though he was frightened, Shun was having the time of his life.
As the movie progressed, Shun found himself holding onto Dai more often, his fingers clutching the fabric of Dai’s shirt. Dai, ever the protector, wrapped both arms around Shun, whispering reassurances in his ear. “It’s just a movie, baby. I won’t let anything happen to you,” he said softly, pressing a kiss to Shun’s temple.
Finally, after what felt like hours of tension and scares, the movie ended. Shun let out a sigh of relief, relaxing against Dai. “That was intense,” he said, his voice slightly shaky but filled with laughter.
Dai’s sister stretched, grinning widely. “Wasn’t it? That was awesome!” she said, clearly thrilled by the experience.
Dai’s brother nodded in agreement, though he seemed far less affected. “Not bad, but I’ve seen scarier,” he reiterated, though there was a hint of a smile on his lips.
As they all stood up to leave the theater room, Shun felt exhaustion wash over him. He leaned heavily on Dai, his eyelids drooping. Dai noticed immediately, his expression softening as he gently adjusted Shun’s position, laying Shun’s head on his lap.
“Looks like someone’s ready for bed,” Dai’s sister said with a knowing smile as she gathered the empty snack bowls.
Dai nodded, brushing a few strands of hair from Shun’s forehead. “Yeah, he’s had enough excitement for one night,” he said softly.
After his siblings left, Dai carefully lifted Shun into his arms, cradling him as he carried him back to the bedroom. Shun stirred slightly, his eyes fluttering open as he mumbled sleepily, “Dai…?”
Dai smiled down at him, pressing a light kiss to his forehead. “Shh, it’s okay, baby. Just go back to sleep,” he whispered soothingly.
Shun’s eyes drifted shut again, and he sighed contentedly, nuzzling closer to Dai as he was laid down on the bed. Dai tucked the blanket around Shun, making sure he was comfortable before climbing into bed beside him.
As soon as Dai lay down, Shun instinctively moved closer, wrapping his arms around Dai and resting his head on Dai’s chest. Dai smiled, feeling a rush of warmth and affection as he held Shun close. The night was quiet and peaceful, the only sounds being the soft breathing of the two lovers as they drifted off to sleep, wrapped in each other’s embrace.
