On the morning of their third anniversary, Dai woke up with a giddy feeling, his heart racing with excitement. This was the day they would celebrate three beautiful years of being together, of becoming each other’s anchor in a world that often felt uncertain. He slipped out of bed and gently nudged Shun, who slowly blinked awake, his hair a mess and eyes still hazy with sleep. They shared a warm, sleepy smile, and Dai immediately leaned in for a soft, lingering kiss.

“Good morning, love,” Dai whispered, his voice tender.

“Mmm, morning,” Shun murmured back, still half-asleep but smiling all the same. As they moved through their morning routine, brushing their teeth and taking a shower together, Dai found himself clinging a little closer than usual, unwilling to let go for even a second. Shun noticed and laughed, wrapping his arms around Dai.

“What’s gotten into you today?” Shun asked playfully.

Dai just chuckled and kissed him on the cheek, “You’ll know later.”

After breakfast, just as he was about to head to university, Dai glanced back at Shun. “I’ll try to come home early tonight. Let’s go somewhere special, alright?”

Shun looked at him, mildly puzzled. “Is there something special today?”

Dai’s eyes widened in playful disbelief. He hid his amusement and shook his head, planting a quick kiss on Shun’s cheek. “You’ll figure it out soon enough,” he whispered, leaving Shun wondering.

At university, Dai was greeted by Kenji and some other friends, who gathered around to wish him a happy anniversary.

“Three years, man! Happy anniversary!” Kenji grinned, clapping him on the back.

Dai raised an eyebrow, surprised. “You guys actually remember? Shun doesn’t even seem to.”

Kenji smirked knowingly. “Oh, I think he does,” he said, pulling out his phone. “Seems like you don’t know what your darling husband’s been up to!”

Kenji hit play on a video, and the unmistakable sound of Shun’s voice filled the air. Dai froze, recognizing the soft, rich voice that had been his comfort and joy for years. But this song...this one was new. He listened carefully, his heart swelling with warmth as the lyrics spoke of the love they shared, the ups and downs, and the gratitude for each day spent together. Dai’s face softened, a smile lighting up his features.

As the song came to a close, Shun’s voice sounded again, this time speaking directly to him. “Happy three-year anniversary, Dai. This song is for the love of my life.”

Kenji grinned at Dai’s dazed expression. “Your husband is a romantic genius.”

Dai’s smile grew, his heart swelling with affection. He could hardly wait to get home and surprise Shun in return.

Later that evening, Dai finally arrived home, practically bursting with excitement. As he stepped inside, he saw Shun standing by the mirror, adjusting his collar. The sight of him, framed by the soft light, was almost enough to make Dai forget the elaborate plans he’d made. Quietly, he approached and slid his arms around Shun’s waist from behind, pressing a kiss to his neck.

“You look amazing,” Dai murmured.

Shun looked at him through the mirror, a slight smirk playing on his lips. “You’re in a pretty good mood. What’s the occasion?”

“Oh, nothing…” Dai said teasingly, though he couldn’t keep the smile off his face.

They got ready, and soon they were off. After a scenic drive through the city, they arrived at a luxurious hotel, the kind that oozed elegance and romance. The lobby was grand, filled with soft, ambient lighting and gentle background music that suited the mood. A song was playing that made the evening feel even more magical—a melody that hinted at promises and memories.

They made their way to a private table that Dai had reserved for them, elegantly set with delicate roses. The soft candlelight flickered, casting a warm glow across the table. As they sat, Shun gave Dai a playful look.

“Are you ever going to tell me what’s going on?” he asked.

Dai only chuckled, squeezing Shun’s hand as he placed their order. Then, as they waited for the food to arrive, Dai quietly slipped away for a moment. When he returned, he took Shun’s hand and, with a mischievous smile, pulled out a small velvet box from his pocket.

“What’s this?” Shun asked, his curiosity piqued.

Dai opened the box to reveal two matching pendants, each crafted in a way that reflected their personalities—simple yet beautiful. The chains glistened in the candlelight, and the pendant’s elegant design made it clear that Dai had put thought into every detail.

Shun’s eyes softened as he looked up at Dai, his expression touched. He recognized the song that began to play over the speakers; it was the one he had recorded, his message of love for Dai. Dai met Shun’s gaze, his smile saying everything his words couldn’t.

With a gentle touch, Dai took one of the pendants, stood, and fastened it around Shun’s neck. “Happy anniversary,” he whispered.

Shun’s fingers reached up to touch the pendant, his eyes warm. “It’s beautiful,” he murmured. Dai held his hand, brushing his lips against it softly. “Not as beautiful as you,” he said, his voice barely more than a whisper, full of affection and admiration.

Their meal arrived, and they shared every bite, savoring the flavors and each other’s company. They fed each other small bites, laughing and talking , completely lost in their world. Shun would tease Dai about his over-the-top surprises, and Dai would respond with playful banter, both of them caught in a cycle of love and joy.

As the night deepened, they finished their dinner and headed back home, driving through the city’s twinkling lights. Dai, his heart still racing from the evening’s events, turned to Shun with a soft smile.

“You know,” he started, his voice quiet. “I’m graduating next month.”

Shun nodded. “I know,” he replied, though his eyes held a hint of curiosity at why Dai suddenly asked this. His curiosity was answered with Dai saying, " let's get married right after my graduation ".
