Episode 44: Shadows of the Leak

Early morning, 7 a.m.

The morning air was heavy with tension as the news about Yoongi’s unreleased track leak stormed through social media. Tweets, headlines, and fan speculations flooded every corner of the internet. Though fans tried their best to stay supportive, Yoongi’s silence only added to the mystery.

Yoongi sat silently on the edge of his bed, still in yesterday’s clothes. His phone buzzed endlessly, but he kept ignoring the calls—until it lit up again.

Caller ID: Hoseok. Again...

He sighed and picked up this time.

“Hyung?” Hoseok’s voice was calm but urgent. “I heard about the leak. I know you’re upset, but don’t shut me out. I went through this myself, remember?”

Yoongi closed his eyes, pain flashing in his chest. “Hobi… I know. But I’ll handle it. I don't need you or your help.”

Hoseok didn’t push. “Look, I’ve got someone who can trace the leak. He’s the best hacker I know. Kim Chang Bin. He helped me catch the guy who messed with my files last year. At least hear him out?”

Yoongi blurted out, “I don’t know… It feels like something wrong, and we have nothing to do with each other so why you helping me?”

Just then, Jimin entered the room, looking determined. He heard enough to understand what was going on. Before Yoongi could disconnect, Jimin walked over, snatched the phone, and put it on speaker.

“Hobi-hyung, he’s just being stubborn,” Jimin said firmly. “We’ll be there in an hour.”

“Thank you,” Hoseok replied with relief. “Come to my studio. I’ve already called Chang Bin.”

Yoongi tried to protest, “Jimin—”

“No, I am not listening to you not any stupid excuses, and I trust you.” Jimin cut in, grabbing his wrist. “You said you didn’t want to fight this alone. So don’t push me away. Let’s go.”

Jimin take yoongi hand in his and pulls him but Yoongi back hug Jimin and said, "Jimin believe me, I really have nothing to do with Hobi since last two years, I really don't know why he offers to helps me but please never doubt me, I love you only..."

Jimin cupped Yoongi's cheek and said, "I know that already, that's why I said I trust you and I said it because I really trust you with everything and also Hobi Hyung is my Idol so I know him well... He is a nice person that's why he offers to helps you , so now don't over think and don't waste time just come with me, we have to go there as soon as the possible."

Yoongi nodded and they both go to their car...

Hoseok’s studio, located on the outskirts of Seoul, was silent when they arrived, save for the quiet hum of machines and screens. The studio was sleek and minimalist, with wide windows letting in the sun. Hoseok greeted them with a warm but serious smile, then led them to the back room.

There, a man in his late twenties sat in front of five monitors, fingers flying across his keyboard. He wore black-rimmed glasses, his hair tousled in a half-curly mess.

“Yoongi-hyung, meet Chang Bin,” Hoseok introduced.

Chang Bin looked up and nodded. “Big fan, but let’s save the greetings. I traced the source already.”

Yoongi blinked. “Already? How?”

“Once a file is leaked, it leaves a fingerprint across data-sharing networks. It bounced through a few proxies, but I found the original sender. He’s smart but not smarter than me.” Chang Bin smirked. “He didn’t intend to leak the song. He was targeting your system for banking data—stupid and greedy.”

Yoongi frowned. “So it wasn’t about the song?”

“No,” Chang Bin confirmed. “He used a phishing link and got into your cloud drive. Probably saw the audio files labeled with your name and uploaded them for clout. His mistake? Uploading from a university Wi-Fi without masking it properly.”

“University?” Jimin asked. “You mean it was a student?”

“Yeah. Seoul National University. Name: Park Jihoon. Third year. Majoring in Information Technology. He’s been doing small-scale hacks, targeting artists and influencers. You were just collateral damage… until he got caught.”

“Do we report him?” Yoongi asked, fists clenched.

Hoseok looked at him carefully. “What do you want to do, Yoongi?”

Yoongi sighed, rubbing his face. “I’m tired of hiding. I don’t want people thinking I just let this happen. I’ll tell the media myself.”

Jimin smiled. “That’s the hyung I know.”

Later that evening, BigHit’s press room was filled with reporters and cameras. Yoongi stepped up to the mic, wearing a calm expression that hid the turmoil underneath. Jimin stood behind him for silent support.

“I want to address what happened,” Yoongi began, his voice steady. “This morning, an unfinished version of my unreleased solo track was leaked online.”

Flashes flickered across the room.

“This was not a publicity stunt, nor an early release. It was an unauthorized hack into my personal cloud account. With help from my trusted friends, we’ve located the person responsible. He is currently under investigation.”

Gasps echoed around the room. Reporters scribbled furiously.

“I debated staying silent. But my music is a piece of me. And when it was taken without my consent, it felt like someone ripped out part of my soul.”

He paused, letting the words hang in the air.

“But I’m not going to let that stop me. I’ve decided to release the complete version of the song soon. The way I intended it. With full production, full vocals, full story. For you—the fans who always wait patiently and trust me.”

A thunderous round of applause followed, but Yoongi didn’t smile. He simply bowed and stepped back.

Back at home, the night air felt cooler, calmer. Yoongi and Jimin entered the apartment, finally letting go of the weight they carried all day.

Yoongi plopped onto the couch. “I feel… lighter.”

Jimin chuckled. “See? You needed to talk.”

“I hate being vulnerable in public,” Yoongi mumbled. “But you were right. Again.”

Jimin sat beside him, stretching. “Of course. I’m always right.”

Yoongi turned to him. “Thanks for pushing me.”

Jimin grinned and leaned against him. “Always, hyung. That’s what I’m here for.”

There was silence, peaceful and warm, before Yoongi broke it.

“I’m naming the full song ‘Resurface.’ It feels right.”

Jimin nodded. “Because even after you sink… you always rise back up.”

Yoongi looked at him with a rare softness in his eyes. “Exactly.”

And for the first time in days, a small smile tugged at his lips.
