Chapter - 36 Friends for cheer up!

At evening, The sun had dipped below the horizon, and Jimin’s apartment was shrouded in darkness. The air was thick with silence, broken only by the occasional muffled sob from his bedroom. Jimin lay curled up on his bed, his face buried in his pillow, tears staining the fabric. His phone lay switched off on the bedside table, untouched since the night before.

Jimin’s mind was a whirlpool of emotions—anger, pain, and heartbreak. Yoongi’s words echoed in his head on a relentless loop, each one stabbing at his heart. He had hoped Yoongi would fight for him, but instead, Yoongi had walked away, leaving Jimin feeling abandoned and defeated.

Outside, Taehyung jiggled a set of spare keys in his hand, a worried frown etched on his face. He had been trying to reach Jimin all day, but every call went unanswered, and every text was left unread. When he arrived at Jimin’s apartment and found the door locked from the inside, his concern deepened.

“Jimin-ah,” Taehyung called, knocking on the door. “It’s me, Taehyung. Open the door!”

There was no response. Taehyung’s heart sank as he unlocked the door with the spare key Jimin had given him for emergencies.

The living room was eerily quiet, the curtains drawn, and the air felt heavy. Taehyung walked cautiously toward the bedroom, his voice soft yet urgent. “Jimin, are you here? Please answer me!”

When he pushed open the bedroom door, his heart broke at the sight before him. Jimin was lying on the bed, his face red and puffy from crying, his body trembling with silent sobs.

“Jimin-ah,” Taehyung whispered, rushing to his side. He sat on the edge of the bed and gently shook Jimin’s shoulder. “Look at me, please.”

Jimin slowly turned his head, his glassy eyes meeting Taehyung’s. His voice was hoarse from crying as he croaked out, “Tae…”

“Oh, Jimin,” Taehyung said, pulling him into a comforting hug. “What’s going on? Why didn’t you answer your phone? I’ve been so worried about you!”

Jimin didn’t respond right away, his tears soaking into Taehyung’s shirt. Taehyung held him tightly, rubbing soothing circles on his back.

After a few minutes, Taehyung pulled back slightly and reached for the glass of water on the bedside table. “Here, drink this,” he said softly, holding it out to Jimin.

Jimin hesitated but eventually took the glass, sipping slowly. The cool water soothed his parched throat, but it did little to ease the ache in his chest.

“Now, tell me what happened,” Taehyung said gently, brushing Jimin’s hair out of his face. “Why are you like this?”

Jimin took a shaky breath, his voice barely above a whisper as he began to speak. “It’s… my mom. She’s arranged my marriage.”

Taehyung’s eyes widened. “What? Are you serious?”

Jimin nodded, his eyes welling up with fresh tears. “She didn’t even ask me, Tae. She just decided. And now I have to go to Busan tomorrow to meet the girl and her family.”

Taehyung frowned, his jaw tightening in frustration. “That’s not fair, Jimin. You should have a say in something as important as this.”

Jimin wiped his eyes with the sleeve of his shirt. “I told Yoongi about it last night,” he said, his voice breaking. “But he… he said I should listen to my parents. He doesn’t want me to fight for us, Tae. He think he isn't good enough for me.”

Taehyung’s heart ached for his friend. He placed a reassuring hand on Jimin’s shoulder. “Jimin-ah, Yoongi hyung loves you. I know he does. He’s just scared, that’s all. He doesn’t realize how much he means to you.”

Jimin shook his head, his tears falling freely again. “It doesn’t matter, Tae. He didn’t fight for me. And now… I have to go to Busan and pretend to be okay with all of this when I’m not. I don’t want to marry anyone who isn’t Yoongi.”

Taehyung sighed, pulling out his phone and dialing Jungkook. When Jungkook answered, Taehyung’s tone was firm yet urgent. “Kook, I’m at Jimin’s. He’s not okay. Can you bring some food over? He hasn’t eaten all day.”

Jungkook’s concerned voice came through the phone. “I’ll be there in ten minutes.”

True to his word, Jungkook arrived shortly after few minutes, carrying bags of takeout. He entered the apartment, his eyes immediately landing on Jimin’s tear-streaked face.

“Hyung,” Jungkook said softly, placing the food on the table before walking over to Jimin. He crouched down beside him, his big doe eyes filled with concern. “Are you okay?”

Jimin gave a weak nod, but the truth was written all over his face.

“Let’s eat something,” Jungkook said, his voice gentle but firm. “You need to keep your strength up.”

Taehyung and Jungkook helped Jimin to the table, where they unpacked the food. Taehyung placed a plate in front of Jimin and gave him a small smile. “Come on, eat something. You’ll feel a little better.”

Jimin picked at his food, his appetite is almost nonexistent. But with Taehyung and Jungkook’s encouragement, he managed to eat a few bites.

As they sat together, the three of them talked about everything and nothing, trying to lighten the mood. But Jimin’s mind was elsewhere, his thoughts consumed by Yoongi.

“I don’t know what to do,” Jimin admitted finally, his voice heavy with emotion. “I can’t go to Busan and pretend like this is okay. But I also can’t force Yoongi to fight for us if he doesn’t want to.”

Taehyung placed a comforting hand on Jimin’s arm. “Jimin-ah, you have to follow your heart. If Yoongi is the one you love, then you need to fight for him, even if he’s too scared to fight for himself right now.”

Jungkook nodded in agreement. “And you’re not alone, hyung. We’re here for you, no matter what happens.”

Jimin gave them a small, grateful smile. “Thank you, both of you. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

At night Jimin felt a small spark of determination reignite in his heart. He wasn’t ready to give up on Yoongi or their love. But first, he had to face his parents and the expectations they had placed on him.

In his heart and mind, it was only Yoongi. And Jimin knew he had to make that clear to everyone—even if it meant fighting the hardest battle of his life.
