Chapter - 34 My mom… fixed my marriage!
After a few more minutes of basking in each other’s presence, reality began to creep back in. Jimin suddenly sat up, glancing at the clock on his nightstand.
“Ah, I’m late!” he exclaimed, scrambling out of bed.
Yoongi propped himself up on one elbow, watching Jimin with amusement as the younger man rushed around the room, picking out clothes and muttering to himself.
“Relax,” Yoongi said, leaning back against the headboard. “You’re not that late.”
“I can’t relax,” Jimin shot back, pulling on his shirt. “I have so much to do today, and—”
He trailed off when he felt Yoongi’s hand wrap around his wrist, stopping him mid-motion. Jimin turned to look at him, his breath hitching at the intensity in Yoongi’s eyes.
“Jimin,” Yoongi said softly, his voice filled with concern. “What’s going on?”
Jimin blinked, confused. “What do you mean?”
“You’ve been so distracted since last night,” Yoongi said, his thumb gently brushing against Jimin’s wrist. “Something’s bothering you. Tell me.”
Jimin opened his mouth to deny it, but the sincerity in Yoongi’s gaze made it impossible to lie. He sighed, sitting down on the edge of the bed.
“It’s nothing you need to worry about,” Jimin said after a moment, his voice quiet. “It’s just… some personal stuff.”
Yoongi frowned, sitting up fully. “That’s not good enough, Jimin. I can’t see you like this—so tense, so… distant.”
Jimin looked down at his hands, his mind racing. He wanted to tell Yoongi everything, but the words seemed stuck in his throat.
“Is it about the call from yesterday?” Yoongi pressed gently.
Jimin hesitated, biting his lip. “Maybe,” he admitted.
Yoongi reached out and cupped Jimin’s face, forcing the younger man to meet his eyes. “Jimin,” he said firmly but gently, “you don’t have to face whatever this is alone. I’m here for you.”
Jimin’s eyes filled with unshed tears, the sincerity in Yoongi’s words breaking down the walls he had tried to put up.
“I just… I don’t want to burden you,” Jimin said, his voice trembling.
“You could never burden me,” Yoongi said without hesitation. “You’ve been there for me in ways I can’t even put into words. Let me be there for you now.”
Jimin closed his eyes, taking a deep breath to steady himself. When he opened them again, Yoongi was still watching him with unwavering patience.
“It’s about my family,” Jimin said finally, his voice barely above a whisper.
Yoongi didn’t interrupt, letting Jimin take his time.
“I got a call from my mom yesterday,” Jimin continued, his hands twisting nervously in his lap. “She didn’t say much, but… it’s about my...”
Yoongi’s brow furrowed, concern deepening. “What about you?”
Jimin shook his head, his lips pressing into a thin line. “I don’t know yet. She just asked me to comeback home, as she and appa decide something about my life..."
Jimin looks so tensed and he got silent after saying the half...
The atmosphere in Jimin’s apartment was tense, an invisible weight pressing down on both Yoongi and Jimin as they sat on opposite ends of the couch. Jimin’s usual brightness was nowhere to be seen, replaced by a nervous energy that radiated off him. Yoongi, ever observant, had been watching him all evening, waiting for Jimin to say something about what had been bothering him since the phone call.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Jimin broke the silence. His voice was quiet, almost trembling, but the words hit Yoongi like a punch to the gut.
“Yoongi… my mom… she fixed my marriage.”
Yoongi’s heart stopped for a moment, his breath catching in his throat. He turned to look at Jimin, his usually sharp features softening in shock. “What?”
Jimin couldn’t meet Yoongi’s eyes, his hands nervously fidgeting in his lap. “She’s been talking to her friend, and they want me to marry her daughter. It’s all decided. They’re expecting me to come home this weekend to agree.”
The words hung in the air like a heavy cloud, suffocating them both. Yoongi sat back, his mind racing. His lips parted as if to say something, but no words came out.
“I don’t want to marry her,” Jimin continued, his voice breaking slightly. “I don’t even know her, Yoongi. How can they decide something so big without asking me what I want?”
Yoongi turned away, his jaw tightening. His mind was a storm of emotions—pain, jealousy, and most of all, fear. Fear that he wasn’t enough. Fear that Jimin would be forced to leave him.
“You should listen to them,” Yoongi said finally, his voice low and strained.
“What?” Jimin’s head snapped up, his eyes wide with disbelief.
“They’re your parents, Jimin,” Yoongi said, his back still turned to him. His hands gripped the edge of the couch tightly, his knuckles turning white. “They’ve raised you, loved you, and they only want what’s best for you. Maybe this girl is... maybe she’s the right one for you.”
Jimin felt like the ground had been ripped out from under him. “Yoongi,” he whispered, his voice filled with hurt. “How can you say that?”
Yoongi didn’t answer. He couldn’t. If he turned to look at Jimin now, the tears welling in his eyes would betray him.
