Chapter - 25
Jimin blinked, surprised by Yoongi’s confession. “You really mean that?”
Yoongi nodded, his eyes earnest. “I do. I’m not good at showing it, but I do care about you, Jimin. A lot.”
For a long moment, they stood there in silence, the tension between them slowly dissolving. Jimin could see the truth in Yoongi’s eyes, the vulnerability that he had been trying to hide for so long. It wasn’t easy for Yoongi to open up, but he had, and that meant everything to Jimin.
“I’m still mad at you,” Jimin said after a while, though there was a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
“I know,” Yoongi replied, a small smile tugging at his own lips. “And I’ll spend as long as it takes making it up to you.”
Jimin looked at Yoongi, the sincerity in his words, and felt his heart begin to soften. “Okay,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “But you have to stop ignoring me. And no more pushing me away.”
Yoongi nodded, reaching out to gently take Jimin’s hand in his. “Deal,” he said softly.
Jimin squeezed his hand, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. It wasn’t going to be easy, and they still had a lot to work through, but for the first time in a long time, he felt like they were finally on the right path. As long as they were together, they could figure it out.
“Let’s go back inside,” Yoongi said, pulling Jimin closer. “I don’t want to lose you.”
“You won’t because I want to be with you.” Jimin whispered, leaning into Yoongi’s embrace. “I’m not going anywhere. I really want to be with you, close to you.”
From there they came to Yoongi's apartment.
The soft glow of the TV illuminated the dimly lit room, casting flickering shadows across the walls. Yoongi’s apartment was warm and inviting, the perfect setting for a cozy evening spent watching movies. But as the movie played, Yoongi noticed that Jimin wasn’t really paying attention. His eyes were fixed on the screen, but his mind seemed to be elsewhere. Yoongi’s brow furrowed in concern as he glanced over at Jimin, sensing that something was wrong.
“Jimin, are you okay?” Yoongi asked softly, his voice laced with concern.
Jimin blinked and turned to face Yoongi, as if he had just been pulled out of deep thought. He gave Yoongi a small smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “Yeah, I’m fine,” he replied, though his tone was unconvincing.
Yoongi wasn’t buying it. He knew Jimin well enough to know when something was bothering him. “You don’t seem fine,” he pressed gently. “What’s on your mind?”
Jimin hesitated for a moment, chewing on his bottom lip as he debated whether or not to voice the thoughts that had been swirling in his mind all evening. Finally, he sighed, deciding that he couldn’t keep it in any longer.
“Yoongi, can I ask you something?” Jimin began, his voice tentative.
“Of course,” Yoongi replied, turning his body slightly to face Jimin more directly. “You can ask me anything.”
Jimin took a deep breath, steadying himself before he spoke. “Why don’t you want to be in a relationship? I mean, with me? I’ve been thinking about it a lot, and I just... I don’t understand.”
Yoongi’s expression softened, but he felt a pang in his chest at the question. He had known this conversation was coming eventually, but he hadn’t expected it to happen tonight. “Jimin, it’s not that I don’t want to be with you,” he began, his voice careful. “It’s just... complicated.”
“Complicated?” Jimin repeated, his eyebrows furrowing. “Is it because of some one in past?”
Yoongi’s breath hitched in his throat at the mention of someone, and he immediately fell silent. His eyes dropped to the floor as he tried to collect his thoughts, but the sudden wave of emotions threatened to overwhelm him.
Seeing Yoongi’s reaction, Jimin’s heart sank even further. He had suspected as much, but seeing the truth in Yoongi’s eyes was still a painful confirmation. “It’s because he was your ex, isn’t it?” Jimin continued, his voice trembling slightly. “You’re still in love with him... That’s why you don’t want to be with me, right?”
Yoongi’s eyes snapped up to meet Jimin’s, wide with shock. “Jimin, no—” he started, but Jimin cut him off.
“I found the photo,” Jimin said, his voice quiet but steady. “Yesterday, in your studio. It was an old picture of you and J-Hope. You looked so happy together, Yoongi. I couldn’t help but think... maybe you’re still in love with him, and that’s why you’re holding back.”
Yoongi stared at Jimin, his heart pounding in his chest. He hadn’t expected Jimin to find that photo, and now that the truth was out, he felt like the ground was slipping from beneath him. But as he looked into Jimin’s eyes, filled with so much hurt and uncertainty, he knew he had to be honest.
Without thinking, Yoongi reached out and took Jimin’s hand, holding it tightly as if to anchor himself. “Jimin, listen to me,” he said, his voice firm but gentle. “I’m not still in love with him. It’s true that J-Hope was my first love, and that I cared about him a lot, but... that’s in the past. I don’t want you to think that I’m holding back because of him.”
Jimin looked at Yoongi, searching his eyes for any hint of deception, but all he saw was sincerity. Still, the doubts lingered in his mind. “Then why, Yoongi?” he asked, his voice breaking slightly. “Why do you keep pushing me away? If it’s not because of J-Hope, then what is it?”
Yoongi sighed, running a hand through his hair as he tried to find the right words. “It’s not that simple,” he admitted. “There’s a lot of history there, and it’s hard for me to just move on. But it’s not about him anymore. It’s about me.”
Jimin frowned, still not fully understanding. “What do you mean?”
Yoongi took a deep breath, deciding that it was time to finally open up about the past that had been haunting him for so long. “J-Hope and I... we met in college,” he began, his voice soft as he recounted the memories. “We were both studying music, and we just... clicked. We spent all our time together, making music, hanging out, and eventually, we started dating. He was my first real love, and I thought we were going to be together forever.”
Jimin listened intently, his heart aching as he imagined a younger Yoongi, filled with hope and love for someone who had ultimately broken his heart.
To Be Continued...
