Bumalik ako sa kubo dala-dala ang lutong pagkain sa kamay ko.
"Oh, nasaan si Asa?" Saac asked as soon as he saw me. I handed Critzel's the paper bag that I'm carrying.
"Car." His forehead creased, confused probably.
"Bakit? 'di pa ba siya kakain? Anong nangyari?" Sunod-sunod na tanong niya, mahihimigan pa ang pag-aalala sa boses nito
"Nothing." Kumuha ako ng pagkain at iba pang utensils. "I'll eat with her." Ani ko at hindi na naghintay ng sagot sa kanila atsaka lumabas na at bumalik sa sasakyan.
Pumask ako doon at naabutan siyang tulala.
"Hey.. let's eat." She didn't answer. Inayos ko ang pagkain na dala ko. "Kanina ka pa gutom hindi ba?"
"Masama ba ako Trix?" Natigilan ako. "Masama ba akong anak?"
"You're not, Asa."
"Then why did they left me?" Lumingon ito sa akin with a bloodshot eyes from crying and it made my heart sink, I don't like seeing her like this.
Nilapag ko ang pagkain sa upuan sa likod at lumapit ako sa kaniya.
"That's not the right question to ask, Asa, instead, ask if they are a good parent." I tried coming up with an answer that would lift her up.
Because seeing her in pain like this...makes me feel worse.
"It's not your fault that they leave you behind, it's never your fault." I reached for her cheek and I wiped the trail of tears in it. I held her face and made her look at me, "don't blame yourself, it's their fault, it's their lost." I caressed her cheek and she closed her eyes.
I pulled her closer to me and I wrapped my arms around her.
Poor them. Poor them for not seeing her worth, Asa's worth more than anything, her worth cannot be measured.
"W-wala akong halaga sa kanila.." isinubsob nito ang mukha sa dibdib ko at nagsimula na namang umiyak. "They don't care about me, parehas sila..." I caressed her back.
"Don't mind them, we're here, I'm here and all of us treasure you Asa, you don't need them." I'm here, I'm willing to give anything that her parents failed to give her.
I'll treasure her like no other else.
It took as minutes in the same position before she finally stopped crying. Tapos ay magsisimula na sana kaming kumain sa sasakyan, nahinto lang nang makarinig kami ng katok. Binuksan ko ang bintana at nakita sila Saac kasama ang dalawa pa.
"Pwedeng sumabay kumain?" Nakangiting tanong nito, umawang ang labi ko at tinanggal ang lock ng pinto sa likuran.
Pumasok sila, sa gitna si Saac nakaupo. Hawak-hawak ang pagkain nila.
"I don't know what's great
in this car." Ani Critzel.
"Parang mga tanga amp!" Napangiti ako nang tumawa si Asa at nagsimula na kaming kumain.
Hindi sila nagtanong sa halip ay nagkwentuhan lang kami at paminsan-minsan ay nagtatawanan, kapag talaga sila ang kasama mo ay hindi mo maiiwasang hindi matawa at sumaya.
And that's what I love about them, they always see the bright side in everything despite what's happening around us.
That night, Lolo Robert made us sleep in two of their vacant rooms. He also thanked us for cleaning their house and for the foods.
