63 - The day

*Sofia pov*

Today is the big day. It's the 2nd of December and we're officially adopting DeAndre and Mateo.

Luckily it was an easy and pretty fast process for us, we had found the best adoption centre in the Boston area.
We spent so much time with the boys these past three weeks, Mateo is such a cuddly baby and he goes along with baby Jade, they're almost five months apart, and De Andre loves having two little kids around and when we had the boys over he spent an equal amount of time with Mateo and Jade.

We're meeting them in front of the Judge in about an hour and then we'll go celebrating at Lisa's house with the whole family.
They haven't met everyone yet cause we did not want to overwhelm them but today there is going to be literally our whole family there, but of course it's gonna be and easy day, no pressure or anything on the boys.
"Are we ready?" Chris comes asking with Jade in his arms
"We are!"
"Perfect, I think we should start head down..."
"Yeah, let's go get our family bigger!"

Chris climbs in the car last and starts to drive. While we're in the car we don't talk, we're both immersed in our own thoughts. Personally I'm so glad we got the opportunity to adopt these two wonderful boys and make our family bigger, like we always wanted.
"Here we go..." Chris says snapping me out of my thoughts when we arrived half an hour later.
We walk into the room where our family was already waiting for us and as soon as we sit down Sienna comes in with DeAndre carrying Mateo in his arms, they have the cutest matching little outfits and look so handsome in them.
Sienna walks the boys to us and we both hug them. We sit down and it's Chris the boys in the middle and me with Jade on my lap, then the judge arrives and we stand as he takes his place.
"Good morning everyone! We're here today to expand a family and let these two boys get some love from their new family. It's always so great when I get to come here and proclaim a new formed family but doing it around the holidays is always better, feels more magical"
We all nod and agree with the Judge who before proceeding smiles down at us.
"What we're doing now is signing a few papers for the two of you Mr and Mrs Evans including they boys new birth certificates that says that you are their parents and their new last name, and that's pretty much it"
He comes down and makes us signs different forms and finally the certificates. Chris and I before signing those which are the last thing we have to sign we look at DeAndre and I take his hand in mine while Chris gently rubs Mateo's head
"Are you sure DeAndre?"
"I am, I'm happy with you and so is Mateo" he says bouncing his little brother on his legs "I thought we would never get a family that loves us"
"You have it now" I tell him
"Then sign this papers" he says smiling brightly
Chris and I laughing at the way he said it and proceeded to sign the last paper.
"Very well! You are officially DeAndre and Mateo Evans, and you Me and Mrs Evans are these boys new parents" the Judge says staining up and starting an applause
We hugged the boys and then met the rest of the family but before leaving to go celebrate we shook hands with the a judge and Sienna.

The party lunch at Lisa's was amazing and both boys, even tho Mateo is too little to understand, didn't feel overwhelmed by having so many people around them, on the contrary all the kids, Jade, DeAndre, Mateo, Ethan and Miles played together.
Arriving home in the late afternoon, bellies stuffed as they were turkeys, we brought inside all of the boys things they possessed and place them in a corner in the living room, putting them away tomorrow cause we wanted to enjoy today like this, without doing anything else.
"Could I...take a shower and put something more comfortable?" DeAndre asks me
"Of course! I'll ask Chris to show you where you can take a shower and we got a couple different body soaps and shampoos that should be ok for your hair type, choose the one you like the most, let's go asks Chris to show you"
"Thanks"
I grab his hand and he lets me take it and we go upstairs where Chris is changing both Jade and Mateo's diapers and clothes.
"Could you Show DeAndre how to work the shower in his room and where he can ind towels and body wash with shampoo?"
"Oh sure! Come little man!"
"I have my own room?"
"Of course, and for now Jade and Mateo will sleep in the same one" I tell him
"Thank you"
"What about if tomorrow, we look online for a few ideas to personalize your bedroom and add a little touch to Mateo's and Jade too?" Chris asks
"We can do that?"
"You can transform your room and the babies into whatever you want"
"Thank you so much!"
"Now go take that shower I'll put the clothes you need for now in the drawers and pick doodle you once you're out of the shower"
"Thank you" he says kissing my cheek and I smile brightly as I watch him walk away with Chris

*Chris pov*

It was time for bed, or better the babies were already asleep and so was Sofia. After bringing her to bed I brought the little ones too and Milo decided to stay in the room where the babies sleep.
"Time for bed big guy" I tell DeAndre and he turns the tv off and follows me upstairs.
He was already in his pj so he only had to get in bed.
"Sleep tight ok? whatever you need you know where to find us"
"Yup"
"Mind if Dodger stays with you?" I ask noticing that Dodge already found his spot on the floor
"It's ok"
"Night DeAndre" I tell him ruffling his hair
"Night Chris"
After walking out I go get ready for bed myself, then lie down next to Sofia and fall asleep happy.
When I wake up again it's three I. The morning and I'm being gently waken up by DeAndre
"Sorry for waking you up..." he says shyly
"It's ok bud, are you ok?"
"I can't sleep on my own"
"That's ok" I tell him taking his hand to comfort him "come on, you can sleep in between Sofia and I"
"I can?"
"Sure thing, come on it warm in here"
He gently comes up not to wake Sofia up and settles under the covers
"It's warm"
"Now let's try and get some sleep ok?"
"Yeah"
The moment we finish speaking I feel Sofia turning to us
"Hi baby" she says caressing DeAndre's cheek
"Hi"
"Sweet dreams" she tells him and gently pulls him closer to her chest.
I wait until they fall back asleep, cuddled to one another and I think how lucky I am right now.
