All three were certain that something had to be done and that they would work together when the time comes. Cregan left Daenys and Aegon alone. 'I have to get back to King's Landing. I don't want Helaena to have to lie for me for too long.' 'All right. Give Helaena my love. I'll write to her as soon as I can.' 'Maybe don't do that for now. Aemond is very controlling.' 'That doesn't sound good at all. Then I won't write to her for the time being. When will we see each other again?' 'I'll try to visit you again soon. But then again at our place.' 'Gladly.' Daenys' heart was heavy because she didn't know if and when they would be able to be together again.

The two of them walked to their dragons together. 'Where's Sunfyre?' The panic in his voice and the fear for his dragon made Meraxes and Silverwing look up. 'Ehm, Aegon, look towards the cave.' There lay Aegon's golden dragon, slumbering peacefully. 'Oh, thank goodness. I was getting scared.' Daenys started to laugh. Aegon walked closer to his dragon and suddenly stopped. 'Not Sunfyre, or why are you stopping?' 'Are you making fun of me? That's not nice.' Daenys shrugged and walked past Aegon. 'Well, if that isn't a sight. Sunfyre found the only one of the four who's smaller than him. But it does look kind of cute, the way Shadow is lying there cuddled up to Sunfyre.' Aegon walked towards Sunfyre, who noticed someone approaching him and raised his head. His sleepy eyes looked at Aegon in anticipation. 'My boy, I'm afraid we have to get back to King's Landing.' The noise Sunfyre made reflected Aegon's mood. Neither of them wanted to go back!

But it was no use and Aegon said goodbye to Daenys with a lingering kiss and then climbed onto Sunfyre's back. Sunfyre lifted off the ground and flew towards King's Landing.

Daenys stayed with her dragons for a while longer and snuggled into Shadow's fur. She was already half asleep when she pulled herself together and went back to Winterfell to lie down in her cosy bed in her room. She fell asleep very quickly.

The next morning Cregan was already waiting for her and together they walked to the Godswood. There they sat down under the Heart Tree. 'He's a good fellow. I'm glad you've found someone who loves you with all his heart.' 'Thank you, Cregan, that means a lot to me.' 'Daenys, what will you do if it comes to a war?' 'To be honest, I don't know. One thing I do know is that I can't leave Aegon alone. I think my mother will first try to remind the great houses of their oath. My hope is that Aegon will realise this and come here. I will try to convince my mother to send me here to Winterfell to remind you of your father's oath and then the three of us can come up with a more detailed plan.' 'That sounds like a good plan. But let's hope it won't be that bad.' 'That hope is in vain. If King Viserys dies, war will break out whether we like it or not. The only thing we can do is prepare for it. I also know that I will probably lose many people who are close to my heart.'

Daenys and Cregan sat together under the Heart Tree for a while until Cregan had to fulfil his duties as Lord of Winterfell. Daenys ran to her dragons and Shadow. 'They've grown a little since our last visit, but they're still beautiful beasts. 'That's true. Oh Daenys, the world has changed so much since I brought you here from Dragonstone.' 'Nora, I'm so grateful for everything you've done for me. I don't want to lose you too.' 'We're all going to leave at some point. Some sooner and some later. My time will come too and then I won't be here anymore. But I know Cregan has you and you have him.' 'Nora, what's going on? It sounds like you've already given up on life.' 'Oh, I didn't mean to come across like that. I still want to see so much of you. I want to meet your children at some point. I've already met your beloved and I have to say he's a very polite and courteous young man.' 'Thank you, Nora.' Nora and Daenys remained standing together outside the cave until they were interrupted by Vermithor's flapping wings. He must have been hunting. Daenys grinned and then approached the dragon to stroke his large snout. Nora, watching the interaction, was simply proud of the young girl. How time flies. She hoped that she would live to see many more things and that she wouldn't lose any more people. If something happened to Daenys or Cregan, Nora would never be able to forgive herself.

Family has always been the most important thing in her life.
