Seasmoke roared menacingly and came closer and closer to Daenys and Aegon. Daenys signalled to her dragons not to intervene and Meleys was still far too weak to do anything. Aegon stood protectively in front of Daenys. Seasmoke watched the young king closely. Suddenly Daenys had an idea. 'Aegon, Seasmoke isn't here to hurt us. He's here because he wants a new rider. Try your luck.' Aegon didn't answer Daenys and walked slowly towards Seasmoke. 'Lykirī Seasmoke. Dohaeras!' Seasmoke lowered his head and let Aegon stroke his muzzle. Then he positioned himself so that Aegon could climb onto his back. As soon as Aegon sat on Seasmoke's back, the dragon lifted off the ground. Daenys quickly climbed onto Silverwing's back and followed the two of them.

Seasmoke flew in the direction of a smaller, unknown island and landed there. Silverwing did the same as the younger dragon. 'Aegon, is everything alright?' 'Yes, he just landed here. But I don't know why.' Silverwing watched the younger dragon and suddenly she let out a roar, but it didn't seem threatening. Someone was here that she knew. Daenys looked around and saw something moving. 'Aegon, look. Over there. There's Sunfyre. How on earth did he get here?' At his beloved's words, Aegon turned in the direction she was pointing and saw his beloved dragon there. He ran to Sunfyre and took a good look at him. Daenys followed him at a distance. 'He's badly injured, but he's alive. I don't think he'll make it to Dorne, though.' 'Don't worry about that. Silverwing is big enough to grab him with her talons and carry him.' 'Then let's fly back.'

Daenys climbed onto Silverwing's back and she lifted off the ground, then flew towards Sunfyre to grab him with her talons. Aegon climbed onto Seasmoke's back and followed Daenys. Back in Dorne, Silverwing put Sunfyre down next to Meleys and landed next to Vermithor himself. Seasmoke also landed next to Vermithor. Daenys noticed that Meraxes wasn't there at the moment. 'Aegon, I think you have two dragons now.' 'So, it seems, but I hope Sunfyre can recover from his injuries. At least I have him back for now.' Daenys ran up to Aegon and took him in her arms.

Together they headed for Sunspear, where they were met by an excited Prince Qoren. 'Princess Daenys, I have good news. Princess Rhaenys has come out of her coma. She's still unconscious, but she's definitely going to be okay.' 'Oh my god, that's incredibly good news. Thank you so much, Prince Qoren.' The feelings that flooded through Daeny at that moment were so varied, but happiness and relief were the most dominant emotions. Aegon was also very relieved. 'Aegon, I'm thinking of flying back to Dragonstone tomorrow to see what's going on there at the moment. My grandmother is alive, but I still have a very strange feeling.' 'Do that. I'll stay here and look after Rhaenys.' 'Thank you. But I will only fly to Dragonstone with one dragon. The other two and Shadow will stay here in Dorne. Let's go to sleep, it's already very late.' Aegon and Daenys walked to their room, which had only been occupied by Daenys the previous night. Once there, they could no longer resist their feelings and spent a more or less sleepless night together.

They both got up early the next morning and Daenys said goodbye to Aegon and Prince Qoren for the time being. She also paid a visit to Rhaenys before she left. With Vermithor, she made her way to Dragonstone, where she was already expected. 'Where have you been?' 'I was at Rook's Rest, rescuing my grandmother. I wouldn't have had to do that if you had just listened to me.' 'You can't just disappear like that. I need every dragon here. It's enough that Daemon is in Harrenhal. Where are Silverwing and Meraxes? I've thought about something. I need enough dragons and riders to reclaim my throne.' 'What do you mean, you need enough dragons and riders?' 'What I mean is that you have three dragons and you can only ride one of them and not all three at the same time, so the other two will need another rider and I will start looking for them now.' With these words, Rhaenyra turned round and left Daenys alone with Vermithor. She was shocked by her mother's statement. Had revenge and the desire for the throne gone so far over her head that she had thrown many of her principles overboard? Silverwing and Meraxes would never accept another rider. They would rather turn him into ashes. What should she do now?

One thing was clear to Daenys, no one would touch her dragons!
