Two days had passed since her return and Daenys was sitting on her bed reading a book. She heard someone knocking on her door and invited the person in. 'Daenys, can I sit with you?' 'Of course, Muña. What's the matter? You have a worried look on your face.' 'We got the news that Corlys is very unwell. After your visit, there was another problem at the Stepstones and Corlys went there. He was badly wounded, and it's not known if he'll survive. His brother wants to contest Jace's birthright. We've been ordered to King's Landing.' 'When do you want to leave?' 'You'll stay here. Daemon, Jace, Luke, Joffrey, Baela, Rhaena, Viserys, Aegon and I will go. I don't want you involved just yet.' 'But it's about my brother.' 'Please understand this, Daenys. Nothing will happen to us.'

Daenys had no choice but to give in. After her mother left her room, Daenys sat down at her desk and wrote a letter to Aegon. With the letter written, she made her way to her dragons, where a beautiful, snow-white owl was already waiting. 'Please take this letter directly to Aegon and no one else.' The owl took off immediately. The next morning, everyone set off for King's Landing. Daenys watched the ship from the cliffs. She had spoken to Jace and Luke last night and cheered them up.

'Daenys.' Daenys turned to the voice and saw her grandmother standing there. 'Aren't you travelling to King's Landing, Grandmother?' 'Yes, but I wanted to see you first.' Rhaenys took her granddaughter in her arms and hugged her tightly. 'Grandmother, I have something to ask you and something to tell you. But you have to promise me that you won't tell anyone about it.' 'I promise you in all sincerity.' 'Please support my mum, if you can't forgive her for what happened to Dad, please do it for me. I've sent an owl with a letter to King's Landing. The addressee is Aegon. Don't look at me like that. Aegon and I have been a couple for some time, and I love him more than anything. He loves me too. If you are in King's Landing and my brothers' birthright has not been revoked, I ask you to stay there. I don't think Viserys will live much longer. Once he passes away, the Hightowers will place Aegon on the throne. They will perform the ceremony in the Dragonpit for the masses to see. I ask that you try to get to Meleys and have her burst through the ground to send a warning to the Hightowers and their treachery. After that, fly to Dragonstone and report back to my mum. Make it seem like this isn't part of my plan. Aegon is aware of this. Can I count on you? I know it's a lot to ask of you, but...' 'I'll do it! I trust you more than anyone else. You'll have your reasons. I hope what you have in mind will work.' 'Thank you, Grandma. You should probably be on your way.' They both hugged again and Daenys gave her grandmother a kiss on the cheek before Rhaenys walked over to Meleys and climbed on her back.

Daenys watched her grandmother, and her dragon disappear into the sky. Hopefully nothing bad will happen in King's Landing. She would have loved to go with them. Hopefully Aegon would receive the letter in time.

King's Landing (Aegon Targaryen)

Aegon stood in front of the fireplace in his room and looked into the dancing flames. Oddly enough, these dancing flames reminded him of his Daenys. He already missed her very much and hoped to see her again soon. But Aegon also knew that Daenys would not be coming to King's Landing with her family. Suddenly he was torn from his thoughts by the sound of the owl sitting on the balcony. He walked over to the snow-white owl and took the letter. Aegon sat down in his armchair and opened the letter. His Daenys always has a plan. He would implement this and add a little touch of his own. Hopefully everything would work out.

Back with Daenys

A few days had passed since her family left Dragonstone and so it was that Daenys stood at the harbour waiting for her family's ship. Thanks to her spies, who are Daenys' eyes and ears in King's Landing, she already knew what had happened. Of course, she wasn't at all happy about it. But as Nora had once said, boys will be boys. How true. It didn't take long for Daenys to embrace her siblings. A few days had passed since the departure for Dragonstone and so Rhaenyra, Daemon and Daenys stood together in the Chamber of the Painted Table and talked about their time in King's Landing and what Rhaenyra and Daemon had learnt there. Suddenly the door opened, and a knight stepped inside. 'The Princess Rhaenys Targaryen.' Rhaenys stepped quickly into the room and at that moment Daenys realised one thing: it was about to begin.
