(Reece's pov)
"This isn't fair though? We promised?" I complain, as Marjorie plays with my hair, my head in her lap.
"I know baby. I'm so sorry, I didn't book it, your sister did." she responds, leaning down and kissing me.
"Why couldn't she have booked it for the both of us? No fair." I say, pouting slightly.
She lifts my head off her, and stands up.
"Reece, I know okay? I don't want to go any more than you don't want me to. But I have to, okay? So quit complaining." she says bluntly, before walking upstairs. How can I be so stupid?! This has to be so difficult for her as well. I mean, she will also have to spend the time away. And she has to do it alone, whereas I have people here to distract me. You idiot Reece.
I get up, walking upstairs. I get to the bedroom door, and just as I'm about to open it, I hear the lock click.
"Gorgeous?" I question, and hear her slide her back down the door.
"Go away Reece."
"Gorgeous please. I'm sorry, I didn't even realise how hard it must be for you as well. Please, let me in." I explain and can hear her softly sniffing.
"Go away Reece." she repeats, her voice broken.
"I don't want to be a bother, so I'll go. I'll be downstairs on the sofa, so when you're ready to talk, I'll be down there waiting. I love you." I say, turning around and walking downstairs, not even waiting to hear a reply.*
About 20 minutes have gone by, and Marjorie still hasn't come down. I stand up, pacing back and forth.
Do I go up there? Is she okay? Why isn't she down here? No, I can't. She wanted space. Ugh, what do I do?!
My thoughts are interrupted by footsteps, and I look up to see Marjorie, coming down the stairs in one of my hoodies.
"Baby." I say softly, and she looks at me, her eyes red and puffy, she has clearly been crying a lot.
"Reece." she responds back, stopping halfway down the stairs. I walk over to the bottom, holding my arms open.
"Baby." I repeat, and she runs down the rest of the stairs, leaping into my arms, her body wrapping itself around mine, as she holds on tightly, as if I was to disappear any moment.
I walk us to the sofa, and sit us down, Marjorie buried into my shoulder."I'm so sorry gorgeous." I whisper and she lifts her face, messily wiping away the tears with the hoodie sleeve.
"What for?" she says, sniffing.
"For not taking into account that it must be hard for you, and not just me." I say once more, kissing her nose.
"It's okay Reece. I really don't want to go though. I just want to be with you." she says, falling back into me, snuggling her head deep into my shoulder.
"I know. I know gorgeous." I say, rubbing up and down her back. "But, we have this evening together, before you leave tomorrow. How about we spend it baking and listening to music?" I ask, and she lifts her head up.
"Yes, yes, yes!!" she squeals, jumping off my lap and running into the kitchen, before I can even get up myself.
"Okay, okay. Calm." I say, laughing as I stand up, walking into the kitchen, finding her reaching for the flour, which is just out of her reach.I lean against the doorframe, just watching her struggle, trying to stifle my laughs.
"Are you just going to laugh at me, or come here and help?" she says, looking at me and crossing her arms.
"Sorry, I'll come help." I say, walking over and reaching over the top of her, grabbing it down.
"What else do we need?" I ask, and she runs around the kitchen, collecting the rest of the ingredients.
"Let's make some brownies!" she squeals, jumping around.
"Okay. Let's do it." I say, getting started. We start baking, I mix together the wet ingredients, and she mixes the dry ingredients together, then I add them into a big combined bowl.
She grabs the chocolate chips, pouring pretty much the whole bag in.
"Calm down there gorgeous. Not too many." I say, and she laughs.
"You can never have too many." she says, eating a couple of them. I shake my head, mixing them all in.
I pour it into a baking tin, and place it into the oven, to cook for 20 minutes."Let's start cleaning this up. You wanna pop some music on?" I ask, and she nods, running out the room, returning a few moments later with her phone, which is connected to the speakers already.
And puts on her Adele playlist on, the first song being Easy On Me. One of her favourites. She squeals and then jumps up and down, grabbing my hands.
"My favourite!!"
"Yes Marj. I know love." I say, giggling and placing a kiss on her nose, turning back to cleaning.
She dances around the room, as I clean up around her. Once I'm done, she grabs my hands once more.
"Dance with me baby!" she says, and I give in, dancing along with her.
