(Marjorie's pov)

"Hey my love," I greet Charlotte as she walks through the door.
"Hey Marjorie."
"How are you? How's Mia?"
"Are you alright Marjorie?" She asks, immediately stopping whatever she came in to do, turning and facing me.
"I'm actually really good. Why do you look like that?" I look at her confused.
"You asked about Mia."
"I did? Well maybe I'm just in a good mood, and nothing can ruin it," I smile at her.

"Marjorie," Carly's voice comes from the doorway as she slowly walks through.
"Hey there Carls, you alright?" Charlotte asks, giving her a side hug.
"Yeah, I just need a favour?"
"What's up Carly?
"I'm going to head to my shift, I'll see you later girls," Char waves as she walks out the office, leaving me and Carly alone.
"What's this favour you need then my love?" I invite Carly to sit on the sofa we have in the office, as I sit next to her.
"I... uhm..."
"It's okay. Take your time," I comfort, hoping to relax her as best as I can.
"I.. need somewhere... uhm... to stay," she says, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Okay, what's happened? You don't have to say if you don't want to."
"She kicked me out. We got into a heated argument, and it escalated, it all happened so fast. Next thing I know, the front door is slammed in my face and I'm all alone," Carly explains, a few tears escaping and rolling down her cheeks.
"Come here my sweet girl," I say softly, pulling her into a hug. She wraps her arms tightly around me, sobbing into my body as her smaller frame shakes. "I've got you baby girl, I've got you."

"Hey gorgeous, they didn't ha- Carls?" Reece starts to say something, stopping when he sees the crying teenager in my arms. At the sounds of someone else's voice, Carly's grip on me tightens.
"It's okay honey, it's just Reece. Do you want him to stay?" I stroke her back, and feel her loosen her grip on me.
She stands up quickly, running over to Reece and hugging him.
"I've got you Carls," he whispers, looking over to me confused.
"Carly can I quickly loop in Reece about what happened?" She nods. "Carly was kicked out, an argument with her mum. She needs a place to stay," I sum up.
"We've got you kiddo. You'll stay with us, we'll look after you," Reece talks softly to her.

He looks up at me, his eyes different to how I've ever seen them before. Full of hatred, but also a soft look for the crying teenager.
'I know. I know' I mouth to him, nodding softly.
"Carls?" She lifts her head and looks over to me. "Do you want to stay in here for the morning with one of us?"
"Can I?" She sniffs.
"Of course, you can choose either me or Reece to stay. The other will cover you. It's just meant to be me and Reece in the office today, so you don't have to worry," I tell her.
"Can you stay with me please Marjorie?" She wipes her eyes.
"Of course I can baby girl. Reece, my love, can you cover in the baby room with Char this morning?"
"Of course! I'll go down there now," Reece says, giving Carly another hug before walking down the corridor.

"Carls you can sit at Reece's desk if you want. I've just got some quick paperwork to do," I tell her, sitting down at my desk.
"Is there anywhere to lay down for a bit?" She asks.
"Yeah, you can lay on the sofa baby, make yourself as comfy as you want," I smile, watching her lay down and getting as comfy as she can.

*

I've just finished sending my last email when I hear groaning coming from across the room, followed by a yawn.
"Did I fall asleep?" Carly sleepily asks, rubbing her eyes.
"You did Carls, but that's okay. You can have some lunch if you want, it's your lunch break now," I tell her.
"Okay. I'm just going to go up to the staff room. Then I'll relieve Reece from the baby room. I'll see you later," she quickly says, rushing out the office before I can get a word in.

"Hey Marjorie," Char comes in the office, a soft but concerned look on her face.
"You alright my love?"
"Is Carly okay? She just rushed down the corridor past me, not stopping to say anything like she normally does?"
"She's had a rough day. She's been kicked out of her home, me and Reece are taking her in. She's slept the morning away, and I think she's just a bit scared really," I say softly, her gaze only softening even more.
"Oh bless her sweet heart. I'll keep my eye on her for the afternoon, make sure she's okay. It must be hard on her," Char says.
"Thanks Char. I just hope me and Reece can look after her the way she deserves. She deserves the world, sweet baby girl."
"She'll be alright with you two. I'll go check on her now, then get down to the room. I'll keep an eye on her," Char says, leaving me alone in my office.
