(Reece's pov)

"It's raining darling," I hear Marjorie sigh from across the room. I look up from my phone and see her staring out the window, the rain pouring down.
"I'm sorry gorgeous? Was there something you had planned for today?" I question slightly confused, putting my phone down next to me and staring at her, waiting for her response.
"No. It's just... the rain... it always puts me in a sad mood. And that means it's a rainy day," she sighs, turning around and looking at me.
"Oh, that's not great. What can we do to make sure you aren't in a sad mood?" I ask.
"I don't know," she softly responds, walking back over to me and sitting down next to me.

She rests her head on my shoulder, just staring out in front of us.
"You can't think of anything?"
"No."
I try and think, think of anything that cheers her up. Normally I could think of a dozen things instantly, but my brain just won't let me today. It's focused on the sound of the rain coming down, the way it taps on the window in uneven beats.
"That's it! I know what to do," I say, and she raises her head.
"What?"
"It's something I've always wanted to try, ever since I was a kid. I dreamt of having a partner to do this with. I may have had Mia, but she hated this idea, and I can sort of see why now. She knew it was one of the things I wanted to do with my favourite person basically, and she knew that she wasn't that, she didn't want to take that away from me..." I come to the realisation of why Mia always refused to do it with me, making me feel guilty in a way, I always used to ignore her when she would say no, out of pettiness.
"This would be cuter if I knew what you are on about," Marjorie cuts through my thoughts.
"Of course gorgeous."

I stand up off the sofa, and stand in front of her. I hold out my hand, holding the other behind my back, trying to mimic a prince the best I can.
"Will you dance with me, in the pouring rain?" I ask, almost holding my breath waiting for an answer, scared she will say no.
"Of course I will my love," she says, taking my hand and standing up. She giggles slightly, ruffling a hand through my hair and kissing my lips. "We better hurry, who knows when the rain will stop," she says, quickly rushing to the door.

I smile to myself. Thank you Mia. I never would have gotten this enjoyment if it was with you. I make a mental note to message her later, properly thank her.
"Darling!" I hear Marjorie call from the hallway, making me follow.
"Okay, I'm coming," I say, sliding my trainers on and quickly tying the laces.
"Let's go! This has been my dream for way too long as well. To finally do it with the man of my dreams, it's gonna be perfect," Marjorie confesses, opening the door.
"It will be," I agree, and we both walk out, instantly getting wet from the downpour.

We run to the middle of the road, checking for cars first. Thankfully, we live on a quiet road on a normal day, only the odd car or two driving down. But with the rain, it seems like there will be nothing, making it even more perfect.
"May I have this dance?" I turn to Marjorie.
"You may," she replies, resting her arms around my neck, whilst mine rest on her waist.
We dance back and forth, laughing and giggling at each other.
"This has truly boosted my mood. Thank you darling. I never thought I'd be so happy getting absolutely soaked by the rain, but I'm so happy," Marjorie says, looking up at me with a huge smile on her face, and love and adoration in her eyes.
"You are so welcome gorgeous. This is truly a dream come true. It's so beautiful, dancing with you in the rain, undisturbed by anything. I'm so thankful you chose me," I respond, looking back at her with the same amount of love and adoration, if not more.
"Of course I would choose you. In this, and every lifetime or universe. I will always choose you. I love you."
"I love you too," I lean in to kiss her, but instead feel her place a finger on my lips.

I look down confused, but she just laughs, pulling me so we are now standing on the path instead.
"You okay?"
"It's one of my favourite songs by Taylor. 'Sparks Fly.' I've always dreamed of having someone to do this with. Now I have my forever person, and I'm so glad," Marjorie explains.
"Okay.. Do what?" I ask, still confused. No matter how many times she can play one song, I still never know any of it, let alone the name of it.
"To quote her, 'Meet me in the pouring rain, kiss me on the sidewalk.' So will you?"
"I would love nothing more than to make your dream come true," I smile, leaning in and kissing her passionately.
