(Marjorie's pov)
I wake up at about five in the morning, an hour earlier than I need to be. There is this pain in the back of my throat, a sort of stinging and itching. I take a breath in, and then a cough fit starts coming out, and I can't control it. After a short few seconds, it finishes, and I feel even worse than before.
I lay my head back in the pillow, and my eyes feel like they're burning, and my nose feels blocked but not all at the same time.
I've got a cold. Oh god. I can't, I have to go to work. I mean, I won't take a day off, I've always had to nurse myself back to health, and I've always done it whilst still working. If I tell Reece, he'll tell me to take the day off, and he'll stay trying to help me. But I can never accept help from anyone, I've always had to do it myself, and I can never accept help.
I manage to drift off to sleep, until my alarm blares in my ear, jolting me awake.
"Ugh," I groan, leaning over, and turning it off, before feeling myself being pulled back.
"Morning gorgeous," Reece gruffly mumbles into my back.
"Morning," I manage to get out, my throat still killing. I wrangle myself out of Reece's arms, and go to the bathroom, splashing cold water over my face.
I go back out, and Reece is still in bed. I shake my head, and go over to the wardrobe, grabbing out my comfy but still formal outfit for work, and change into it.
"Up," I say to Reece, trying to talk as little as possible.
"Okay, okay. I'm getting up," he says, rubbing his eyes, and climbing out of bed to get ready.
I head downstairs, wanting to make breakfast, but then the thought of any food makes me feel sick.
I end up just sitting on the sofa, sniffing and occasionally coughing, waiting for Reece.
"Are you sick gorgeous?" Reece asks from behind.
"No I'm not," I say defensively, standing up.
"Okay, whatever you say," Reece says, kissing my cheek. I kiss his back, and he takes my hand, leading me to the kitchen. "What do you want to eat?"
"Not really hungry," I whisper.
"Okay, you sure?"
"Definitely sure," I say, and see him nod.
"Okay. Shall we get going then?" he suggests, and I nod.
"Yes handsome. Let's go," I say, holding a hand out for him, which he accepts.

Once we get to the nursery, I head into my office, and Reece stays in his.
I sit down in my chair, taking a deep breath in, letting the air hit the bottom of my lungs, before breathing back out, but coughing at the end.
"Marjorie!" a parent starts yelling. Great.
"Yes?"
"Calm with the attitude," she says.
"Just get on with it," I roll my eyes, sick of this parent already.
"Well, your staff member out there, what's the name?" she starts going on, and I start to tune out, another useless complaint. "Oh yeah, Reece, him."
Now I'm listening. What could she possibly want to complain about, especially about Reece?
"Do tell," I sit up slightly.
"He was rude, told me I couldn't come in and speak to you. Said you aren't feeling the best, so if I needed to talk to someone, I can talk to him," she says, crossing her arms.
"Okay? I don't see the problem. Reece is a deputy, so he has the authority to say that," I say, shaking my head at the stupidity.
"Oh well. I wanted to speak to you quickly, and I'm here now."
"Okay quickly, what is it?" I pinch the bridge of my nose.
"I wanted to ask if I could book Patty in for an extra day this week?" she asks.
"That's all? You're joking."
"No. Can I?"
"I don't do that, that is all left to my deputies. Please go speak to them," I say, and she sighs.
"Fine, but I'm speaking to someone else, not that Reece weirdo."
"Okay, don't speak to my husband then, speak to someone else, I don't care," I say, placing my head in my hands in my desk.
"Husband? Oh wow, I didn't know. Um.... I'm just.... gonna go," she says, backing out my office slowly.
"Yeah bye," I say.
"Hey gorgeous, you okay? I tired to stop her," Reece walks in, coming over to my desk.
"Yeah thanks," I mumble, trying to ignore the sick feeling.
"Gorgeous?" he questions, pulling up a chair beside me.
"Yes?"
"Please tell me what's going on?" he questions, and I look at him, as he takes my hands in his.
"I-I.... I'm fine," I sigh in defeat.
"Marj?"
"Reece please, I promise you I'm fine," I say again, looking deep into his eyes.
"Okay, I'm not going to pry anymore," he says, kissing my hands.
"Thank you. You should probably get back to work now," I say.
"Yeah probably, I'll be back in here for lunch," he says, kissing my lips gently before leaving.
