(Reece's pov)

"Oh you look very nice today Marjorie," I hear a parent say. It makes me stop dead in my tracks.
"Uhm... thanks?" I hear Marjorie reply. Why didn't she shut him down? Why thank him?
"I'm free tonight. You want to get some drinks? Someone needs to treat you right."
"No thank you. Parents and staff are not allowed to mix outside of the nursery," Marjorie tells him. Why didn't she tell him that she is married? Why is she not shutting him down?
"Maybe we can break the rules?" The parent suggestively asks. I now storm into the office, fed up of hearing this and I don't want this to go on longer.

"She's married. Get out," I tell the parent.
"Whoa there. Steady on," the dad laughs.
"Excuse me?! You are flirting with my wife okay? So I can say whatever I want, and you need to get out now before I do something I will regret, and you'll regret not leaving sooner." I get up into his face.
"Reece," Marjorie says, pulling me back.
"Okay, I'm going." The parent scarpers out the office.

"Reece, what the hell? You can't threaten a parent like that at all," Marjorie says, confused by my actions, but also having to take into her manager position.
"He was so obviously flirting with you, and you seemed to enjoy it," I spit out, directing my anger towards her.
"What? Flirting? Are you insane? He was just being friendly, and even then I shut him down. I was going to properly tell him off when you stormed in," Marjorie explains.
"Yeah right. You just love the attention. Poor little Marjorie never got any attention since she was as kid, and now she's all big and grown up, she just loves the attention, can't get enough of it," I mock her.
"Reece? What-?" I can sense the hurt in her voice after I said that, but I'm too riled up to come down and apologise.
"Go stuff yourself Marjorie," I tell her, being mindful of my language, no matter how angry I am, I will never swear at her. I storm out the office, leaving her alone as I climb into my car and just start driving. Where? No clue. Just anywhere but there.

(Marjorie's pov)

He left. He left like that. I can't believe he said that to me, he attacked me by using my own screwed up childhood against me. I can't believe it.
"Marjorie?" Autumns's voice pulls me out of my daze. I look to her with tear filled eyes, trying to blink them away.
"You alright Autumn? Something you need?" I say, trying my best to smile. She doesn't respond, instead walks over to me and pulls me into an embrace.
"It's okay. I know, you're okay," she whispers into my ear. And I crumbled. I broke down into tears in her arms, my whole body shaking into hers. My knees go out from underneath me as my sobs get harder, but Autumn is there to catch me, gently lowering us to the floor to sit, still holding me tight.

"Marj? Can you look up at me?" Autumn softly asks. I do as she asks. She wipes my tears away with her thumbs, smiling down at me. "There you are. What are you feeling right now?"
"Hurt. He really hurt me."
"I know sweet, I heard him. I'll be having strong words with him later. But for now, what can I do to help?" She asks.
"Just don't leave me alone? I don't want to be alone again," I tell her, and she reassuringly nods at me.
"I'm not going anywhere until you ask me to."

We must have been sat there for a while, my head against her chest listening to her heartbeat, whilst she just sat with me in comfortable silence, because before we knew it, Char was knocking at the door.
"Hiya guys. I don't know what's entirely happened, but I've made sure people have steered clear of the office since I saw you two in here earlier. I just wanted to let you know that it's like almost 7, the nursery closed half an hour ago. Mia's here for me now, but I'm the last one, all the rooms are clean and ready to go. I'll see you two after the weekend," Char quickly explains, rushing off before me or Autumn could thank her.

"Shall we get you home then Marjorie?" Autumn asks.
"Yeah. I think I just need to sleep. I'll deal with what will happen with Reece at another point," I say, standing up and helping her up off the floor.
We walk to her car, she offered to drive since I can with Reece this morning.
It doesn't take long before we are sat in my driveway.
"You want me to come in with you? Just in case?"
"I'll be okay. Thank you for today Aut, I would not have gotten through it without you," I pull her into a hug.
"I'll always be here for you, you're my sister. Text me if you need me," she says as I climb out the car.
