Inside Her Head

They arrive at the warehouse.

"What's going on?"

"Not here either, I want to change because it's not really mission talk," Tigress says before walking into the Zeta-Tube.

"Go home," Superboy says to Sphere when it tries to follow them.

Sphere transforms and flies home.

"Superboy, D-09, Beast Boy, D-01," the Zeta-Tube says.

"I'll be right back," Tigress says going into her room.

"Think she's okay?"

"I think that the incident at Christmas is still getting to her, I think a lot of things are getting her," Connor says.

"Huh?"

"Megan says that when things happen fast people like Artemis can go back to what they are used to," Connor says.

"Used to?"

"Even though she has us, her ex kept her on ball and chain, she is reluctant to trust still."

"What do we do?" Garfield asks in a worried tone.

"We give her time, she'll open up when she's ready," Connor says with certainty.

Artemis comes out.

"Freda, close Tigress weapons closet," Artemis says after putting her suit back.

"Yes Artemis," Freda says making the wall turn.

"Okay, I know I just told Garfield that we need to give you time but I feel there is something on your mind that you need to get out, what is it?"

"It's the trip that Dick and Megan are on," Artemis sits down.

"What about it?"

"Dick got an email from God's Garden about a way to take down the oldest crime syndicate in Gotham, but the side effects aren't exactly League code," Artemis explains.

"God's Garden?" Garfield asks.

"J.O.W," Artemis says.

"Why does Dick keep his apartment complicated?"

"You mean secretive?" Connor asks.

"Yeah."

"Dick isn't like you, I mean he is well known, but not like you," Artemis says walking over to the computer.

"What?"

"You founded the Outsiders, you were on Space Trek 3016, you were in the spotlight, Dick is known for being taken in by Bruce after he became an orphan," Connor explains.

"Okay, got it," Artemis says as the Garden's profile comes on the screen.

"God's Garden is a space station, a place with dangerous experiments, plants, and weapons," Connor reads the profile.

"He says it's dangerous even for him," Artemis explains.

"If it's so dangerous, why didn't he ask me?"

"You and I both know that Dick wouldn't put anyone in danger, especially after what happened with Aqualad and you guys thinking he killed me," Artemis says.

"What is she talking about?" Garfield asks.

"Dick asked Tigress and Aqualad to go undercover without telling us the plan, in order to make it believable Aqualad killed Artemis and Megan was so mad she almost fried his brain," Connor says putting air quotes around killed.

"Noted."

"But this time it's real," Artemis says.

"Robin, D-12," the Zeta-Tube calls.

"Granny Goodness is put away, everything okay with Artemis?" Robin walks in.

"She's worried about the mission Dick and Miss Martian are on."

"Where did they go?"

"Some place called God's Garden," Garfield responds.

"I heard Bruce and Alfred talking about the mission but I thought it was just a theoretical," Tim says.

"Nope, it's really happening, and I can't believe Jeff approved of it," Artemis sits on a couch.

"I know it's not like League code, especially with the side effect, but if we can take down or at least wound the oldest crime syndicate in Gotham then we have to," Tim reminds her.

"I know."

"It's not just the side effect is it? Dick told you about his checkered time didn't he?"

Artemis nods.

"You guys can go, I'll take it from here," Tim tells Garfield and Connor.

"Are you sure?" Garfield asks.

"Positive."

"I'll call if I need to," Artemis reassures him.

"Okay," Garfield says as both of them walk towards the Zeta-Tube.

"You know that he only did that because of Damian, right?" Tim asks.

"I know, I guess I am just getting into my head, wondering if Dick would go back to doing that."

"He won't, Dick may be Nightwing but he is still Robin at heart. He won't let his past control his present," Tim says.

"Thanks Tim," Artemis smiles.

"Of course, I better get going, let me know when Dick gets back," Tim says getting up.

"I will," Artemis agrees.

"Robin, D-12," the Zeta-Tube says.

"What do you think Brucely?" Artemis asks as her dog comes over to her.

Brucely puts his head on her lap and Artemis starts petting him.
