I watch Hayden lying on the couch in the living room as Anakin lies on his stomach and looks at the TV while typing on his phone.
Aurora drinks from my breast. I sit on the floor and look away from Hayden and at the TV when Anakin starts laughing. Because the character in the children's series fell on his butt.
There's a knock on the front door, I get up with Aurora and go into the hallway to open the front door. Shocked, I look at April, who smiles at me.
"Hi." she says.
"Hi." I say and open the door wider so she and Jax can come in. Jax hugs my leg and I ruffle his red hair with a smile.
Jax quickly sprints into the living room and I can hear the two boys talking to each other, even though I don't understand a word.
"How are you?" asks April.
"Good and you?"
"Good. Give me the sweetie," she says and takes Aurora from my arms. We walk to the living room, Hayden sits up and nods to April.
I look back and forth between the two and then say to April: "Do you want coffee?" I ask.
She nods and sits down on the couch. In the kitchen, I chew on my lower lip and try to get rid of this disgusting thought that is creeping into my head. April would never do that to me, I'm one hundred percent sure of that, but on the other hand, with Hayden, the doubts are still there.
With a smile, I give April and Hayden a coffee mug and sit down with them.
They both quickly fall silent and I feel left out, but I don't let it show.
"I'm sorry to intrude on you, but I have to leave Jax with you." April puts her half-drunk cup on the table and stands up. She gives me Aurora, bends down to Jax and Anakin, and gives them both a kiss on the cheek.
If she thinks it was subtle the way she made a sign to Hayden with her finger and pointed to the front door, she's wrong, because I noticed. They're both doing something together and I don't know what.
After half an hour, Hayden announces that he's leaving. He leaves and doesn't kiss me, like he always does.
A slight pain shoots through me, but I ignore it after I've made lunch for the boys and fed Aurora and changed all three of their diapers. I put the two boys in the stroller, having to take out Aurora's seat and install the other one that came with the stroller, and put Jax in it. I quickly put the baby carrier around me and put Aurora in it. I call Poppy and put her on the leash.
The boys chase after Poppy and then Poppy chases after them.
Aurora sits in my lap and laughs as she sees the boys running back and forth.
Her laugh is as sweet as she is, even her hiccups don't stop her from laughing.
I wrote April a quick message saying that I'm in the park with the kids.
"Hi." I look up at the familiar voice.
Chris.
"Hi." I say. He sits down next to me, looks at the boys, then his gaze wanders to Aurora, who touches his T-shirt.
He silently asks me if he can carry it, I nod and give it to him, he looks at her with a smile and she touches his beard.
