"I'm writing my new book." I say, getting nervous because I haven't told my mom yet that Hayden flew here yesterday because Tom told him I was pregnant and he was living in my house now. "Hayden flew here yesterday because Tom told him I was pregnant and now he lives here." I speak quickly and wait for her reaction.
Mom looks at me and she smiles a little. "When Tom packed just a small bag and I asked him where he was going, he said he couldn't look at it any longer. So I figured he would pay Hayden a visit and my guess was right." she says. "I have to admit that I saw him standing on your doorstep yesterday."
I look at her from my sundae and she puts her arm around me. I snuggle up to her and for a while neither of us says anything. We listen to the birds and watch the children talking about something exciting on the porch across from us.
"Hayden deserves to be a part of our son's life, even if he isn't born yet." I break the silence.
"You're right, dear. He deserves it and has the right to do so." She says, removing her arm from my shoulder to grab my hand. ''You're doing the right thing. I know that."
"Thanks Mom." I give her a kiss on the cheek which makes her smile. "Do you want to go to the cinema later?"
"I'd love to, dear, but I have a date with your dad." She says, her cheeks turning slightly pink.
"Uhhh." I say, making her blush even redder.
