"Dad, I know I said I'll clean today, but I can do the rest tomorrow" I said while I wore my hoop earrings, getting ready to go to Nia's 40th birthday. "Naledi you always want to go galavanting with that boyfriend of yours" my dad spoke as he stood by my bedroom door. "That's not my boyfriend and Nia invited me" I said and he shook his head. "Your mom told you to rest, anytime is d-day" he said and I chuckled.

I put on my short dark blue dress, with my gold sandals and I held my blonde braids in a ponytail. I just did my hair yesterday and it's still painful. I got my nails and lashes done, I'm that girl. "I'm outside" I read from Kabelo's messages. I quickly grabbed my gold purse and headed to the door. "You wearing that dress and you're so big" my dad said, not thinking about his words before talking to me, Zulu dads and not having a filter, now I feel weird.

"Bye dad!" I said, completely ignoring him. Mo called me and I answered while I walked to Kabelo's car. "Hey bestie, what's up" I spoke as I hugged Kabelo. "Girl hold on" I said as I struggled to get in the car as always. "Carry on" I said as I got comfortable. "Don't be surprised when you see me at Nia's house today" she said and I laughed it out. I invited Mo to the party as my plus one so I don't get bored or something and she said she'll see about it, I guess she changed her mind. "You just always want to be where I'm at and I don't mind honestly. Should we come pick you up?" I asked before holding Kabelo's hand as he drove. "No, I'll Uber there" she said and I nodded. We continued to talk about what she's going to wear and I helped her pick out an outfit.

"Hey" I finally say to Kabelo as I hang up the phone. I smiled at him and he smiled at me. "Hey Brat, why are you so giggly and excited?" He asked me and I shrugged with a wide grin on my face. "I don't know, I'm happy to see you. I haven't seen you in a week" I said and he chuckled. "It's just a week Brat, relax" he said and pushed him playfully. "You didn't miss me?" I asked and he smiled for a while before licking his lips and looking at me. "Of course I did" he said and I could tell his high. I like his vibe when his high, it's just something about it that turns me on.

"Jermaine is going to kill us if he finds out you dropped me off" I said and he shook his head as he parked the car outside the yard. He stopped the car and turned to look at me for a while. He scanned through my outfit and looked into my eyes. "You look beautiful Brat" he said with a slick smile on his face, lowered eyes and a raspy voice. "Thank you" I said as he got out to open the door for me. He took my hand and led me out, he surprisingly twirled me around and closed the door and at the right time, Jermaine came outside and opened the gate.

"Call me when you're done" he said without caring about Jermaine's existence as always. I laughed softly, I could tell Jermaine was not having it. "You just had to" he said and I smiled before hugging him. "Hey stranger" I spoke and he was annoyed. "I haven't seen you in a week" he said and I shrugged before walking inside the house.

After that incident with Jermaine, I felt the need to ignore them both and self-introspect. I had to weigh out my options, how do you do that if you keep seeing them? You can't. Thing is, Jermaine makes me excited, he gives me the thrill. We're always doing something we shouldn't be doing which, as toxic as that is, it's fun.

Kabelo on the other hand, we're trying to rebuild a friendship, a genuine friendship. Our babies have to be best friends and that's how we'll raise them. Kabelo and I have never been physical which is a blessing in disguise because if we were, it would be harder to leave. However, Kabelo and I have a scary past, a toxic, dark past that I've been overlooking lately and it irritates me. I know I easily forgive people especially Kabelo but for me to trust that he's serious right now and he would never hurt me again is dumb. At this point, it would be wiser to just leave both men alone and focus on my baby.

"Hey baby" Ms Jackson spoke as she hugged me. "Let me introduce you to some of our family members" she said and I smiled. I left Jermaine with my purse and walked to the patio where all Nia's friends and family were. "This is Keitumetse, Margret and Alicia" Ms Jackson pointed to fine middle aged women sitting and drinking cocktails with their hair and nails done. "Nice to meet you" I said as I gave each one a hug. "You're Jermaine's girlfriend?" I hesitated and Jermaine walked behind me and said yes. I turned to look at him and shook my head, as I smiled.

"Girl you are so bold to be with a man who already has a baby. These men love their first baby mama's out here!" Alicia spoke and we all laughed. "I hope he's treating you well" Keith spoke and I nodded as he opened up a chair for me. "He knows better, he knows I'd beat the living shit out of him" Ms Jackson spoke and they all laughed. "I'm going to chill with my uncles and cousins, don't let them corrupt you" he said before kissing my forehead. I don't understand why he can't tell them the truth, he doesn't want them to find out about his incapacity to stay loyal?

"I heard that Marissa girl is crazy, have you met her before?" Margaret asked and I chuckled softly. "No not really" I answered and they nodded as they looked at each other. "You're really his keeper, he won't put you in a position where you're fighting with her and all. Men are the root of all our problems and they're the instigators in most situations" Ms Jackson spoke and I nodded thinking about the time I caught him fucking her on his couch.

While we sat and chatted about rich men and what they do for a living, Jabari walked in and greeted all his aunts and shook all their hands. "Boy if you don't stop with this bougie act, I'll slap you right across your face" Ms Jackson spoke and he rolled his eyes before hugging her. "You know your friend likes them young, she can't keep her hands to herself" he said and they were shocked, including me. "Jabari!" I spoke and he shrugged. "Get yourself a girlfriend or something and stop bothering grown people" Ms Jackson spoke and he scratched his eyebrow.

"I thought you'd say, I brought my girlfriend home today, I guess it's time y'all stop touching on me and harassing me"he said. "Get over yourself" Alicia spoke and he looked at her like he was shocked. "So you can get under me? No can do." I laughed at this interaction, it seems like she likes him or they've been physical before, with Jabari? Anything is possible. "You are a disrespectful young boy!" Ms Jackson spoke

"Babe, this house is too big, I almost got lost" his girlfriend spoke, I turned around to see who it is and my eyes widened, my jaw dropped. "Moagi?"
