Jungkook was in the middle of a discussion, surrounded by business associates, but the moment Jin's name flashed on his phone screen, his heart skipped a beat.
Was something wrong? Did Jin need him? He excused himself abruptly, stepping away from the group, and answered the call with a slight edge of worry.
"Hubby! This cake is so good! I want this in our house!" Jin’s muffled, enthusiastic voice came through, clearly occupied with the delicious dessert.
Jungkook nearly choked on his surprise, his lips twitching as he tried to suppress a smile. He could imagine Jin right now, enjoying the cake with no care for the party or the people around him. His sassy, demanding darling was being as adorable as ever. Keeping his composure, Jungkook responded with a cold, detached hum, trying hard to maintain his professionalism.
He cut the call quickly, rubbing his face to hide the small grin threatening to appear. His darling was truly something else. Even in the midst of all this, Jin had no reservations about demanding what he wanted. That was exactly what Jungkook loved—how Jin never hesitated to turn to him, to ask for the things he desired, as if he knew Jungkook would move the world to fulfill them.
Meanwhile, Jin pouted at the abrupt end to the call. “Did he just ignore me?” he grumbled, but the next moment, the taste of the cake quickly distracted him.
He continued munching away without a care for his surroundings, his earlier frustration fading as the dessert took priority over everything else.
Jin didn’t care about the people glancing his way as he dove into the buffet, completely focused on tasting every dish. He was always like this—when food was involved, nothing else mattered. He ignored the curious whispers and looks from the other guests, savoring the cupcakes, small sandwiches, and everything else that caught his eye.
Meanwhile, Jungkook tried to refocus on his conversation, but his mind kept wandering back to Jin's call.
The image of Jin gushing over cupcakes with his mouth full made Jungkook’s heart swell with affection. He masked his expression well, maintaining his cold demeanor as he responded to his colleagues. Yet deep inside, he felt warmth spreading.
Jungkook stole a glance at Jin across the room. His husband looked carefree, stuffing his face like there wasn’t a room full of high-profile people watching him. Jin’s carefree spirit was something Jungkook admired and adored, even though it sometimes drove him crazy.
Seeing him now, completely at ease, brought a rare softness to Jungkook’s eyes that he quickly masked again.
One of Jungkook's business partners noticed him glancing at Jin. “Your husband seems... carefree,” the man commented, trying to sound polite but clearly condescending.
Jungkook’s eyes darkened as he turned to face the man.
“That’s because he’s comfortable,” Jungkook said, his voice low and calm. “Something not many people here can say.”
The man’s smirk faded, quickly realizing that any further comments would not end well.
Jungkook turned away, his mind once again wandering back to Jin. Despite the chaos of the party and business deals, Jin’s simple demand—Hubby, I want this in our house—played over and over in his mind. It was exactly the kind of request Jungkook loved to hear, the kind that made him feel needed and adored.
Jin, meanwhile, happily continued his food exploration, oblivious to the stir he’d caused. He wasn’t here to impress anyone. He was here for two things: food and Jungkook. And he had every intention of indulging in both tonight.
