Flashback Continues;
It was graduation day for Jungkook, who was now 18.
The sun was shining brightly in the clear blue sky, but Jungkook felt an unsettling weight in his heart as he stood in the park, staring at his certificate.
This chapter of his life was closing, yet he struggled to recall any significant memories from his school years.
The only thing that filled his mind was that haunting moment from his childhood—the moment he first laid eyes on Jin. Since that day, he had never been able to forget him. Without even realizing it, he had become obsessed, constantly thinking about the little boy who had captured his heart.
Namjoon, the older brother of Jin, had grown closer to Jungkook over the years. He has been living with them since then.
Despite the difficulties between Jungkook and his grandfather, Jong-yoong, Namjoon seemed to have a special bond with the old man. Jungkook and his parents, Yoongi, already had a bad relationship with Jong-yoong. Who however, liked Namjoon a lot as Namjoon and he shared same likes and dislikes. Namjoon listens to him obediently, Namjoon had no reason to dislike him which made them really close. Namjoon mostly stayed with Jongyoong, too.
Jungkook didn't mind, he didn't care either.As Namjoon graduated alongside him, Jungkook felt a mix of pride and nostalgia. They had both come a long way. Though he kept it under his emotionless face.
Though, he thinks the school life was never interesting. Nothing ever happened which will remind him of his school years However, that quickly faded when Jungkook’s eyes widened, and his heart skipped a beat. He caught a glimpse of a familiar face in the distance.
"Jin...?" Jungkook whispered, the name barely escaping his lips.
"Jin!" Namjoon exclaimed, following Jungkook’s gaze. There, walking alone in the park, was his younger brother, now 11 years old. Jin’s expression was indifferent, but Jungkook could see the traces of a beauty that shone even in his youth.
"My brother...he's grown so much..." Namjoon’s voice trembled with emotion, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
Jungkook was lost in his own thoughts, staring at Jin's beautiful face. He couldn’t help but walk toward him, compelled by an invisible force. Namjoon trailed behind, but their steps halted as they noticed another figure approaching Jin. It was his mother.
Jungkook’s heart sank as he watched Jin’s mother scold him harshly, her words dripping with disdain. "That Kid left, good! But why didn’t you leave yet? You should’ve been the one to go first. You’re nothing but a burden. Hurry up and let’s go home. The dishes are piling up, so wash them," she snapped before turning to leave.
Jin nodded, his expression dulled by the constant torment he faced, and he obediently followed her, his shoulders slumped in defeat.
Namjoon felt a familiar ache in his heart. He had always known their mother didn’t care about him, but seeing her treat Jin the same way made him feel powerless. "She doesn’t want us. She never did. But I just want to protect Jin," Namjoon whispered, tears in his eyes.
Jungkook’s hands clenched into fists, rage boiling within him as he witnessed the injustice Jin faced. "That woman... how could she?" he thought, wanting nothing more than to shield Jin from that abuse. But he was at a loss; he couldn’t just confront her like that. He had to wait, to plan for the perfect moment to step in.
"Just hold on, Jin," Jungkook promised silently, determination flooding through him. "One day, I’ll save you from this. I swear it."
