As the day wore on, Jungkook felt the weight of the world on his shoulders. He had deliberately kept his distance from Jin, thinking it would give his husband the space he needed after their earlier misunderstanding. But as he walked through the bustling party, surrounded by laughter and conversations, he couldn't shake the feeling of emptiness that came with Jin’s absence.

The venue was lavishly decorated, filled with business partners and their significant others, all of whom seemed to be in high spirits. Jungkook, on the other hand, felt like a ghost in the room, moving through the crowd with a cold, distant demeanor. He exchanged pleasantries with colleagues, but his heart wasn’t in it.

“Jungkook! You remember my partner, Haejin, right?” one of his colleagues, Minseok, said, gesturing to the woman standing beside him, who smiled warmly. Jungkook nodded mechanically, offering a polite smile in return.

“Where’s your partner, Jungkook? I thought you two would make a grand entrance together,” Minseok continued, his tone light and teasing.

Jungkook’s heart sank at the question. “He’s… busy,” he replied curtly, unable to elaborate without revealing the tension that had marred their morning. He glanced around the room, desperately searching for any sign of Jin, but the crowd was a blur of laughter and chatter, none of which seemed to include his husband.

“Busy?” Minseok raised an eyebrow. “You mean he’s not here? I thought married couples always show up together at events like this. Specially newly weds.”

Jungkook felt the heat rise to his cheeks, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. “Yeah, well, not all couples are the same,” he shot back, his tone sharper than intended.

Minseok’s eyes widened slightly, surprised by Jungkook’s sudden defensiveness. “Hey, no need to get all worked up. I just thought—”

“Just drop it,” Jungkook interjected, feeling a wave of irritation wash over him. He forced himself to take a deep breath, willing himself to remain calm. It wasn’t anyone’s fault but his own that he felt this way. He should have been more proactive in reaching out to Jin instead of giving him space.

“Sorry, man. Didn’t mean to offend you,” Minseok said, backing off.

“Yeah, it’s fine,” Jungkook mumbled, his eyes darting around again.

As time passed, Jungkook felt the heaviness of the party settle over him like a thick fog. He was lost in his thoughts, trying to shake off the feeling of discontent that lingered since Jin's abrupt departure that morning. It was as if the atmosphere around him had thickened, making it difficult to breathe. Just as he was about to retreat deeper into his thoughts, the energy in the room shifted.

Whispers began to circulate, drawing Jungkook's attention away from the stale conversations around him.

“Whose that?”

“Oh my... he is so pretty…”

“No, so gorgeous.”

“Isn’t that... Wait, Jeon Jungkook’s husband?”

“Jeon Seok Jin?”

Jungkook's heart raced, and his eyes widened as he turned toward the entrance, his breath catching in his throat. There stood Jin, looking absolutely breathtaking. Clad in a silky, smooth white outfit that hugged his form perfectly, Jin exuded an aura of authority and confidence. His hair was styled flawlessly, framing his beautiful face, and a touch of makeup highlighted his features, making his lips appear a striking shade of red.

With every step, Jin commanded attention. He walked as if he owned the room, and all eyes were drawn to him, captivated by his presence. It was as if he were the main event, effortlessly stealing the spotlight from the business talk that had filled the air moments before.
