Episode 51

" I don't think Dr. HighTower is available to take visitors yet , ma'am, he just got in ," Edna said politely as she glanced up from her desk outside the headmaster's office at Barrington Academy. " I can make you an appointment at a far better time. "

" Nonsense, old lady," said Cassandra Mayfield, wife of Republican Senator Palmer Mayfield, mother of resident bully Zora Mayfield and current co president along with Reese Malden on the PTA ,  as she in her expensive Ginger Paterson cream white pantsuit and silky blue blouse to match her chilly eyes swept regally into the office followed by an incensed Edna.

" I'm sorry, Dr. HighTower , but this woman....Mrs. Mayfield just barged in without an appointment," Edna retorted to Gerald who was finishing his morning go on the exercise bike in one of his expensive track suits and running shoes.

Gerald sighed and stepped off the stationary bike. He shook his head in new exasperation as he replied," Don't worry, Edna. This is fine. You can return to your desk. "

Edna gave the other woman a cold stare before she lifted her white headed hair and stomped back outside to her desk , closing the door behind herself abruptly. Then she leaned closer to it in an effort to hear what was happening within Gerald's office. 

Gerald crossed to his desk and picked up his half empty bottle of water for another long swig before saying," Good morning, Mrs. Mayfield, how might I assist you today? "

Cassandra glanced at his tracksuit with a fair amount of disdain before replying crisply," You may assist me by removing that.... that charity case troublemaker Nicole Duncan from this school. She is in no way Barrington material. I have contacted Nicholas Volkouv about that scholarship his company gave the girl and he refuses to take it back. I suppose a man like him doesn't care about the well being of American children. But , you , you may be from England, but you are headmaster of this school. For the moment. And , I expect you to act in the good interest of all our students. "

Gerald thinned his lips. " Why should I remove Miss Duncan as a student? She has not violated any of our rules since she has arrived. In fact we have not had any real trouble with her here. Her current schoolwork is not excellent but it is also not poor. And , she is currently in hospital. The victim of a tragic shooting that left a fellow student injured as well and a local mother dead. I don't think....."

Cassandra shook her well coiffed head of upturned blonde hair at him. " You don't need to think. Just do. The girl should never have been admitted. She shot Gregory Jacobs's son ....."

" She was never charged with the shooting at the courthouse. In fact Joe Jacobs actually requested that no charges be filed against the child for her actions. He forgave her."

Cassandra rolled her perfectly made up eyes. " Well , Greg always said his son is a fool.  His so called husband is a fool too. Representing a rank amateur over Bucky Van Owen. But I digress. The child is a dangerous factor. She drew danger in the form of the Green girl to the school bus. How long before she draws it to the school itself? Then what will you say ? Will you cling still to your love for DEI then ? "

Gerald sat down in his chair behind his desk. " I am the headmaster of this school. I have been for many years. I am not doing a terrible job either. According to the board whose chairman Richard Norland is a very good friend. Under myself enrollment has increased this year. Under myself we have the Reese Malden on staff as a drama teacher and the next Reese Malden teaching science. We have students preparing to participate in renowned educational programs overseas next semester. I decide which students come and go. And , I decide that Nicole Duncan stays here at Barrington Academy as a part of our educational family here. Is there anything else you required of me, Mrs. Mayfield ? "

Cassandra pursed her lips as her eyes glinted coldly at the man. " This shall be discussed at an emergency meeting of the PTA. "

Gerald disregarded her as he turned to his computer. " Do give my regards to the other parents. "

" I also have a complaint over Luci Moore disgracing this school with all that woke nonsense on Rebel. You must put an end to it now ! "

Gerald rolled his eyes to her amazement and anger. " No. I've seen her segments on Rebel. I enjoy them. Luci Moore is one of our most creative and intelligent students. Unlike your daughter Zora whose own grades are beginning to slip. Would you care to discuss that as well, ma'am? "
