St. Paul's Hospital

Nigel came up behind Richard as he sat in Lewis's hospital room holding his hand as he kept sleeping and wrapped his arms around the man. " Your dad took Tanisha to his place. She was tired so I'm letting her play official hooky from school today. He and Glory are delighted to watch her. You know how they love to spoil the kids. He said Richie and Rebecca got up and ready for school without a fuss. They'll go in with Alfred and Gerald. And , Mary Grace Angeletti , whose apparently Dodie's daughter from Pennsylvania but she's staying with Glory at Alfred's. Goes by M.G. they say. " He kissed the top of Richard's head. " How's our boy doing? "

Richard smiled sadly. " The same. But that doctor just came in. The tests ..... Winston is a perfect match for Lewis. He is Lewis's ..... Anyway. Winston has agreed to donate bone marrow and blood to our son today. "

Nigel tightened his grip on his husband. " That's good. They say it'll help Lewis. Maybe get him into a remission like Glory's cancer. Thank goodness for Winston Arnett. Never thought I'd ever be saying that one. "

Richard blinked back tears. " Yes. He's saving my son which I'm grateful for. I just wish I could have done it myself. But I'm appreciative to him for it. " He paused briefly. " I asked everyone here last night to not tell anyone else about.... the paternity. Maybe Spencer because of the campaign. Winston is his manager. And , his .... brother. His favorite brother. I don't want my son to know the truth. He has enough to deal with now. Maybe one day....."

Nigel furrowed his brow. " I'm certainly not telling anyone. Because you are still his father in my eyes. Always will be, my love. And, why you call Winston Spencer's favorite brother? "

Richard laughed faintly as his brain yearned for one of the pills his father had taken from him last night. " Because it's true. My brother and I have never had a good relationship. And , it's my fault. I accept that. "

Spencer shifted from the bed to his wheelchair carefully as DuBuis came out of the bathroom wearing his pale blue medical scrubs.

" Winston sent me a text," Spencer said in confusion. " He's going to be in the hospital today. Donating bone marrow and blood to Lewis. "

DuBuis nodded. " Good. I'm glad Lewis is going to be okay. That illness is rare but serious. We studied it in med school. So ..... he's a match? "

Spencer hesitated before speaking. " Apparently so. Because.... because he's the father of Lewis. " His blue eyes glinted with anger behind the horn rimmed glasses he had just slipped on his lean attractive face. " That terrible Tania cheated on Richard when they were married. Before they had Lewis. They tested and it's true. Tania said it was. But it's supposed to be a secret so Lewis doesn't find out. "

DuBuis looked in the mirror, thinking he needed a haircut but it would be a while until Mark was up to doing it. So he decided to wrap a plain black durag around his head and plop the Barrington Academy staff  baseball cap on top. Then his husband's words suddenly hit him.
