Narrator

Now that Y/n had moved back home and Minji had settled into her new position as The President of SamSam Group, everything felt like it was falling into place.

Y/n still had a bit of adjusting to do because of how different everything felt compared to the last few months but things were going alright.

That's until, Y/n got an unexpected card in the mail.

- Y/N POV -

I froze when Minji handed me the letter in her hand. I hadn't received mail in years and the few that I did were all from school or the bank.

"Someone must really like you to be sending you handwritten mail," Minji didn't look fazed at all by the odd heart on the corner of the envelope.

"I don't trust things like that," I took a deep breath.

"Just throw it away," I angrily responded before turning away to head to my room.

"Y/n, it's just a letter!" Minji yelled as I slammed my door shut.

I didn't recognize the handwriting and I didn't know who it was from, but I could guess. I knew that if I opened that letter...

"FUCK!!!" I couldn't control myself and threw my phone across the room.

My whole body knew better than I did. My brain did too, but it was trying to be rational. I hadn't opened the letter yet... so, the pair were fighting...

"Y/n!" Minji suddenly barged into my room.

"This letter looks sweet. Just open it. Someone must have gone through a lot of trouble to send it here. To my place," Minji was too innocent to understand.

I did my best to not take my emotions out on her. I loved her too much to do so.

Minji took me in during the worst part of my life. She put a roof over my head. She fed me. She clothed me. She let me have my own life. Paid for my tuition. Lifestyle.

Minji did everything for me.

She didn't deserve to be an emotional punching back.

Yet, I couldn't control myself.

"I don't want it. That's that," I gritted through my teeth as I tried to get into bed.

Being in bed, hugging the dinosaur Minji gifted me for my birthday, was the only safe place I knew.

"No, C'mon!" Minji tried to put the letter in my hand.

"Fine!! You want me to fucking open it. THEN I'll FUCKING OPEN IT!!!" I snatched the envelope from her hand and ripped it open.

"Here it goes!" I had lost control of my emotions at this point.

"Hi, I hope you're okay-"

"This is bullshit!" I started ripping it up.

- Minji POV -

"Woah, it's just a letter!" I couldn't understand what Y/n was so upset about.

I was happy Y/n got some sort of mail outside the generic stuff.

"IT'S NOT JUST A LETTER!!!" Y/n screamed before suddenly punching the wall.

I gulped a bit frightened by her behavior, but I was used to it at this point.

"Just- I-"

"Don't say anything you're going to regret. Please," I knew where these outbursts led.

"Look, it's just not something-"

I made a mistake by snatching Y/n's letter out of her hand.

"DON'T!" Y/n screamed.

I read over the letter anyway.

"Hi, I hope you're okay.

I know you won't pick up my calls but I'm proud of you. I saw you at that famous CEO's press meeting and figured you were doing okay.

You must know people in high places now.

I hope you've gotten better now. I'm proud of you.

- Love, Mom"

My blood began to boil.

"It's from your mom," I didn't even know how to act.

"Yeah," Y/n lowly replied.

"You... I... You...," I didn't even know what to say.

I had heard few words about Y/n's mom.

I knew the basics. I knew Y/n hated her and had mommy issues because of her... but I- I-...

The way Y/n talked about it was... almost nonexistent...

"I thought she was dead!!" My anger got the best of me.

"SHE IS TO ME!!!" Y/n yelled.

"She's your mom," I tried to reason.

"She might be my mom, but she is not a good one. Not to me at least," Y/n pulled her dinosaur to the edge of the bed....

She needed comfort and I didn't know how to give it to her.

I knew that.

"Doesn't this show that she cares? She went through all the trouble to get it to me," I was doing my best to understand things.

"IF SHE REALLY CARED THEN YOU WOULDN'T BE HER REPLACEMENT!!" Y/n suddenly threw her dinosaur at me.

"IF SHE COULD GET THIS TO YOU THEN SHE COULD HAVE FOUND ME ON THE GOD FOR SAKEN STREETS WHEN IT COLD AS FUCK!!!" I was suddenly met with Y/n's hands grabbing onto my blazer.

"IF SHE REALLY CARED-"

"ENOUGH!!!!!" I managed to get control of the situation.

Y/n seemed to freeze at my odd reaction to their behavior. She was used to me taking it and apologizing or trying to make up for it afterward... but my position in life had taught me a few things...

"Sorry," Y/n mumbled.

"Don't say sorry. Just go," I sternly ordered.

Those words were a big mistake.

As I pulled out my phone to call for some advice, Y/n had packed up her backpack and stormed out of the house.
