“So what are your plans now? Are you still going back ?” Sanha asked Soo ah who was taking a sip from the beer watching the City lights. She stopped for a bit thinking. She didn't face him and her eyes were lost.
“I don't know, actually,” she answered. She faced Sanha with blank eyes.
Sanha took her hand and slowly patted it.
“It's okay,” he whispered, smiling at her. “Take your time. I'm here for you”. Soo ah smiled. She was feeling a warmth inside her heart and it felt good. Maybe she'll be okay. With him by her side, maybe she could figure it out.
“I'll think about it and figure out some other job to take on,” she said.
“What are you going to do until then? Stay inside the house the whole day? He asked.
“Oh, it's fine. I'm used to it. I used to stay inside and just write stories and read when I was at Inwoo’s” she waved him off. He smiled and pulled her into a hug.
“I just want you to be okay,” he said softly.
“Come here” he softly said. Soo ah leaned on him as he stroked her hair.
“I might as well write a story now. Looking back a lot just happened now ” she said smiling.
“yaa, is it that silly for you to say something like that?” Sanha said.
She laughed.
“All writers write from their experience. Didn't you know that already? All my stories are just extracts from my life. I thought you already figured that out” she smiled looking at the blinding lights as she took a sip from the beer can.
“You stories are always so…sad”, he said out loud, but they both knew it didn't need to be answered.
Sanha’s eyes widened suddenly. “Hey, do you make money writing the story?”
Soo ah nodded, “it's a small amount though.”
“Why don't you take it more seriously. Become a writer. Publish your stories. How about that” he stood up dragging Soo ah with him. “That's it. You're going to become a writer.” He sounded cheerful and excited. Soo ah laughed looking at Sanha surprisingly.
Sanha hugged her. Soo ah melted and stood closer to him. She wanted to be closer than that. She wanted to be mixed with him like colours.
“I will look after you until you become a writer. I'll invest in you. Pay me back when you become a famous writer” Sanha muttered, still hugging her tightly.
“Okay. As long as you stay with me I am going to be fine” she said and she meant it. As they stood there unable to part, the city lights shimmering below, Soo-ah’s mind began to drift back to the moment when everything started to fall apart. Her conversation with Sanha felt like a promise—a glimpse of hope. But deep down, she still had doubts. Could she really leave everything behind and start anew as a writer? The thought both excited and terrified her.
Sanha pulled back slightly, looking into her eyes with a soft intensity. He could sense the doubt in her eyes,"You know, you don't have to have it all figured out right now. We can take it one step at a time."
Soo-ah smiled.
“You have a gift, Soo-ah. You just need to believe in yourself as much as I believe in you.” he continued.
Soo ah looked at him with the same softness. He's all she wished for without actually wishing. He's a gift probably from her brother. Sanha believed in her, maybe more than she believed in herself, and that feeling made her sigh. A feeling of freedom.
He's beautiful. Corner of his face, his eyes, everything is beautiful. His brown eyes are so vast like the ocean. His plump lips look pink. She wanted to study his face. Every part of, every corner of it. Everything about him.
