The mortal was very amused thinking that Loki had a tear in his eye after the movie with the strange ship ended, as he called it. No matter how many times he told her he was not, she kept giggling randomly at times—telling him about his face that had multiple seizures of sadness as the red haired girl called out to her dead lover. Loki was brooding over his mission tonight as the girl put on a different movie. After about a couple minutes into the movie, Loki realized that the mortal wasn't moving anymore, he idly turned his head towards her. His heart automatically softened as he saw the sleeping figure of her. He could almost feel that she was crossing over to a realm unknown to all, dreaming of beautiful things he could never imagine. The girl fixed her head in her sleep, and then slowly, her head started moving to her left side. Loki's eyes widened, he wanted to pull himself back but he didn't want to wake the mortal up either, he felt she wouldn't be able to fall asleep after he was gone. Loki's face was flushed with embarrassment as her head fell upon his shoulder. He was bewildered, clueless about what he was going to do.

"I hope she is not that being..." he thought while staring fixedly at her baby-like face. He could feel his bony shoulder was no longer comfortable for her as she tried to position her head again. Without any thought or control, Loki came closer to her and gently put her head to his bosom. His own actions frightened him dearly—his left hand was running through her hair.

"I will keep you alive... I promise" Loki whispered as a hurricane was destroying his mind. Winds were blowing inside his heart with tremendous speeds as he was no longer able to resist a feeling he'd forgotten about all those years ago.

Love.

He knew he had to leave very soon, he tried to put the mortal's head on the couch as carefully as possible not to wake her and he succeeded. The mortal let out a soft moan, curled up in a ball—her comfort was quite visible on her face. Loki headed towards his room, and just before he was out he gave her a long stare, retaining his tears as he entered his room to change his clothes. Loki had trouble focusing himself on what was about to happen, he knew he couldn't risk his mission by being careless no matter how many inside men he had on the job. After changing into a full cobalt blue set of formal wear, he headed downstairs quickly as he knew he wouldn't be able to leave if he were to give the mortal another stare.

He wasn't surprised to see a horde of black trucks outside the mortal's house. Loki instantly killed his heart as he stepped outside the quiet house. He could spot many men dressed in completely black outfits and operation suits. Most of their faces were covered by gas masks or war paint; the only shining objects catching his eyes were the scopes of their sniper rifles hanging on their backs. Loki walked among them, completely standing out with his blue suit and obviously seeming like he came unprepared. However, all the men stood in their places frozen as his narrowed eyes met them. One soldier came upfront and saluted Loki.

"Greetings of Mr. Auden, commander" the man said firmly. Loki grinned, his eyes still slightly narrow.

"Ah" Loki's smile grew wider "Isn't it lovely when Nick Fury makes enemies in his own council?" the soldier did not reply without making any move.

"Status update" Loki ordered as he took a couple steps towards the truck that had its doors open for him.

"We're extracting men to the S.H.I.E.L.D base as we speak sir, no obstacles until five mile radius. The checkpoint is fifteen minutes, the base thirty minutes away, sir" the man informed as he followed Loki. The God of Mischief sat down on the back seat, with complete disappointment on his face.

"What's the hold up?" Loki asked as he made a hand sign to the army of soldiers to start packing up and leave.

"Sir, the room the weapon is being held is protected by a special soldier" the soldier said heavily. Loki looked at his half covered face with question.

"Hawkeye, sir" the man finished with fear. Loki's disappointment left its place to a sheer smile.

"Just keep the surrounding area clear, I got Hawkeye" Loki slammed the truck's door as the soldier saluted him and left to his own truck.

A fire was burning inside Loki's heart, broken and worried after he'd left the mortal home alone. Facing Hawkeye again was not as important to him; he remembered how much fun he had with him when his mind was expanded. He knew with no doubt that he could easily beat him if he really wished to. He made a promise to himself about not playing around with him too much before taking the scepter—as entertaining as it would be to him. Loki could see that the soldiers in the truck with him were barely blinking; he could see their expressions were an equal mixture of fear and comfort with the Asgardian prince in the vehicle. The soldier next to him took out a machine gun and handed it to Loki. He stared at him, thoughtful.

"I don't need that" Loki said with pride and turned his gaze back on the road.
