Chapter Forty Three - Lucky:

Thanos' chariot slowly landed on the ground and no Avenger made a move towards him, even the Hulk stood on his spot and you knew it was deliberate. You quickly looked around to see the beaten and miserable figures of the Avengers after fighting for such long periods of time. Your eyes went over to Loki's figure who managed to get his head up and stare at Thanos with the smirk that didn't seem to leave his mischievous face ever since he showed. The red monster gave out a lusty laugh before getting off his chariot; he was holding a gigantic sword that had a constant black aura.

"It's very unfortunate for you that you've turned down my offer, Skadi" he lightly said and took a couple steps closer to you, you saw that Tony and Steve did the same towards you in case he was going to try something funny.

"I thought my untimely disappearance would show that I am not interested" you said with a smirk, you couldn't believe the way you spoke and how you managed to keep yourself so calm. You had a weird feeling that Skadi was manipulating you against him. Thanos' humorless face searched over the crowd of your friends and his eyes landed on Thor.

"I cannot wait to meet with your father, Odinson" he said, Thor moved on his spot helplessly since Mjolnir was occupied being on top of Loki that he didn't have much of a choice but his own bare hands to battle him. He knew that would be impossible considering the black sword decorating the purplish scarlet creature.

"You may gather the roots of Yggdrasil together, but Asgard will fight until its last champion" Thor firmly replied and Thanos' smile widened even more.

"You think she can save you. But as long as her mortal part remains she won't be able to carry you to victory for I will take her from you and unite her with the tesseract" he told Thor, you saw Steve's face taking so many shapes with discomfort.

"Let me help you, ____(y/n)" you looked around to see who was talking to you but the voice didn't belong to anybody. It was a female and had nothing to do with Natasha's sweet and cold voice. A frigid feeling took over you and you realized that the voice was in your head and nowhere else, it was Skadi trying to contact you somehow.

"Skadi, but how are you going to help me?" you thought to yourself and hoped that Skadi was able to understand your thoughts.

"Only for a short time, let me take over so that I can save you and your friends from his wrath" she replied with no emotion or intensity. You didn't know what that really meant but you tried as hard as you could to relax your body while standing up.

"If you want to live, don't come between me and the girl" Thanos said and he shot himself towards you with inhuman speed.

In this split second that felt like a lifetime, Thor hopelessly had to remove Mjolnir from Loki's bosom and set him free. You saw that he tried to get up but Clint and Natasha tried to encounter him together. You saw that Tony shot himself against Thanos to block him from reaching you, he only slowed him down but wasn't able to stop him. Steve threw his shield to knock the red monster's sword out of his hand but it was no use. After realizing he wouldn't be able to stop him, Tony turned himself around to shoot at Loki who had been winning against the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. almost effortlessly. You saw that Thor held Mjolnir up to strike at Thanos and the Hulk pushed Thanos back in a flash.

You realized that the blue lines on your arms advanced past your elbows and completely covered your arms and chest; you could feel it moving on every inch of your body and painting you in Jotun skin. Your vision was once more tinted with a pale blue and you lost control of your muscles as Skadi's will took over your physical being. You pulled out your bow and your arrows got caught on some sort of a fire that was matching your skin color, your aim was turned on Loki's head.

"Don't kill him!" you shrieked inside your head and Skadi's aim automatically turned towards his right foot and shot him. You heard Loki's bitter scream as he fell on one knee, agent Barton quickly got a hold of him and hit his head so hard that Loki lost consciousness.

You turned your gaze upon Thanos who seemed like he wasn't having much trouble against Hulk or Thor's frying lighting that had been dancing with his golden armor. You saw that Steve and Natasha were fighting off alien soldiers that had been coming your way ever since Thor pulled their attention with the loud currents flying around. Iron Man shot past you to join them in their attempt to stop the new waves of monsters. Without your control, you started running towards Thanos. You were completely dreaded and afraid of what you were doing yet you had no control to stop yourself. You came close to where he was and your hands extended before you. You felt the blue glow coming together at your finger tips before streams of ice started shooting at Thanos. You heard his disappointed growl as his sword went right inside Hulk's tummy with a loud noise.

"No!" you said as you heard the same remark coming from around you at the same time. Tony turned his attention back to Thanos again and started shooting him nonstop as Hulk's huge body fell back on the ground. Thor was screaming like an animal as the lighting currents became more powerful and frequent on Thanos which pushed him back slightly in his attempt to stand still.

You saw that the red monster started glowing dark purple and he enveloped himself in a huge magical bubble with a smirk. The lighting was bouncing back into the air and Tony's missiles were flying in different directions without hitting him. He barely saved himself from the ice covering his legs and flew into the air.

"Mark my words, Odinson. When I see you again in Asgard, you won't be this lucky. When Surtur and the other worthy warriors join me in my righteous crusade, none of you will stand in my way to acquire the tesseract and my queen" he said with his voice booming in the air, his stare turned to you before he was surrounded in his magic, he pulled the scepter from where it was into his hands and he disappeared with its power allowing him to do so. You saw that the sea of alien ships also joined him in the dark magic he was casting and suddenly the streets of New York were oddly empty.

You felt the frozen feeling in your body disappearing and the lines on your skin regressed back to their normal places; you regained your ability of control and looked around to see the shocked and tired faces of all the Avengers staring at you. You scanned over them as all of you panted, you immediately caught Bruce's half naked figure on the ground. He barely opened his eyes and let his head rest on the ground, you were thankful that he was okay and sighed in relief. You saw that Thanos had forgotten something behind. After seeing Hawkeye's frowning face, your final stare was on Loki who was sleeping quietly on the ground before him.
