You proceeded deeper into the city, the enormous pillars rose past your line of sight in the air and you kept looking around with your jaw dropped. From the corner of your eye you realized that Thor was staring at you with an admiring face, a faint smile was on his lips.
"Must be so interesting for you... all this" he whispered sweetly and steered the horse carefully.
You slightly blushed and nodded your head. You looked at your hands with concern to see that they were so pale you couldn't tell the color difference between the icy blue lines and your own skin anymore. This sent multiple stabs to your heart, you feared for yourself and if you could really be treated like Thor promised you. You looked into his eyes and your hope was restored back again. Thor stopped his horse in front of a giant white building, so did Eir and her helper. Thor lent you his hand for you to get down; your eyes met Eir's curious ones. You knew she'd been staring at you ever since you met her. You kept wondering why that was but you also knew that you were going to have your chance sooner or later to figure it out. Thor gently tapped his hand on your shoulder; you turned to him to meet his tender smile that didn't seem to be washed away from his face whenever he looked at you.
"Lady ____(y/n), I must leave you for now. I will ride to meet my mother and father. I have to let them know that you are here. I will also get your chambers ready. Would you trust me with your belongings?" he said and pointed at your backpack on your shoulder.
"Of course" you briefly said and handed him your backpack, hoping he did not have habits like his brother to go through your stuff. Thor nodded at you and stared at Eir who was standing right next to you.
"I will come back. Farewell, Eir. I expect that you give her the best care you can" Thor said and got on his horse.
"I will do all I can for her, my prince" she said loudly since Thor was already riding away from you. Eir smiled at you sweetly and held onto your waist.
"Let us go inside, I will examine you first and ask a couple questions if you don't mind" she opened the doors gently.
You went inside what seemed like a hospital but there was something about it that just made it feel different to you. There were no nurses or doctors running around, no electronics or no units to track down someone's vitals. You spotted many cupboards, boxes and wardrobes on the walls. The different sizes of bowls and glasses were decorating them with liquids of all colors inside. Eir led you through silver double doors and showed you to a bed with the most beautiful set of blankets and pillows. Not sure of what to feel or do, you obeyed her without question and sat. You almost felt like you sunk inside the bed because it was the softest thing you ever sat on, your hands slowly went over the unfamiliar fabrics. Eir pulled a chair in front of you and sat down, staring at your hands with a questioning face.
"How did that happen to you?" she asked with her seductive voice again.
"I, uh... I touched the scepter. It's a weapon linked to the tesseract and—" Eir interrupted you, you might have underestimated her knowledge of such artifacts.
"That explains why it's ravaging your body. The tesseract is not something a mortal can wield. It can only be wielded by Gods or Jotuns for only those entities alone can endure its power in their bodies." She said and held your hands in hers, flipping them gently and examining the lines.
"Am I going to... die?" you managed to whisper. Eir's honey colored eyes stared into yours with sadness.
"If your situation does not change, yes you will. I can greatly slow down the poison. But this is beyond my powers to fix, the All-father will know what to do" she said and got up, moving towards a cupboard across the room.
"But... I learned that I am a special being that can stop Ragnarok" you pleaded, trying to make excuses for yourself to keep hoping.
"That may be true" Eir said as she glanced at you while grabbing glass bowls. "A mortal would have been dead already, yet here you are" she added.
Eir grabbed a bigger bowl and poured in liquids in from the smaller ones, mixing them and creating a pale blue color. You realized there were dried flowers and plant pieces in her other hand now. You stared at her tall figure with awe since you had no idea what she was doing. She came closer and sat back down on the chair with the bowl in her lap. She gave you a quick look.
"Your eyes remind me of my sister" she murmured and dropped some flowers in the mix.
"Oh, she's in Asgard too?" you asked as you watched Eir slowly mixing the solution in the bowl.
"No, she died a long time ago" she sighed and held a particular flower in her hand, she was about to drop it in.
"That looks like the flower of grace!' you exclaimed, as weak as your body was. Eir stared at you with surprise.
"How did you know?" she naturally asked.
"Well, there's a plant like that where I come from too" you said with a blush.
The way you snapped the neck of the flower in your backyard echoed in your ears when Eir did the same to the one in her hands and dropped it in the bowl. Your heart cried with pain, you couldn't admit it to yourself but you missed the God of Mischief. Eir slowly mixed the liquid, and then pulled out a small dagger from her belt on her waist. You slightly jumped back with her unexpected move. She smiled and cut her wrist without going too deep, her blood dripped into the bowl. You had no idea what you wanted to do. A part of you wanted to scream, another part of you wanted to start running out of the building to find Thor yet you stood still watching Eir in awe.
"I am a Valkyrie, ___(y/n). We're known for our healing abilities in all realms of Valhalla." She calmly said and wrapped her wrist with a part of her dress she just tore.
"Have this, it will help you greatly" she said and handed you the bowl with the drink that was purple now. You gulped with disgust because drinking the blood of someone else made you feel uneasy. The burning sensation in your arms proved to be stronger for you; you drank the whole bowl at once.
After a brief moment, you already saw that the lines in your arms started regressing. The weird feeling in your head started to become lighter and your vision was restored to its normal state, no more light blue tints were ruining your vision of beautiful Asgard and its people. Eir smiled at you and her helper ran into the room.
"My lady, queen Frigga and prince Thor would like to see the mortal" she said, still trying to catch her breath.
"Why let them in, of course! We are just finished" Eir said and got up from the chair and turned herself to the silver doors.
Your tummy had a sharp twist realizing that you were about to meet Loki's mother.
