Taehyung and Jungkook stepped out of the police building, their footsteps echoing in the silence between them.

Without warning, Taehyung turned to Jungkook, his eyes brimming with emotions he couldn't put into words. He reached out, pulling Jungkook into a tight embrace, his arms wrapped firmly around him as if seeking both comfort and reassurance.

Jungkook didn't hesitate; he wrapped his arms around Taehyung, holding him close, feeling the steady rise and fall of their breathing sync. They stood there, finding strength in each other amid the uncertainty that lay ahead.

"You'll never leave me, right?" Taehyung's voice was muffled against Jungkook's chest, soft and vulnerable.

Jungkook held him tighter, but before he could respond, Taehyung continued, his words spilling out with a fragile hope. "When we catch that man... after that, we'll live happily ever after, just like in the books. Right?"

He pulled back just enough to look up at Jungkook, his eyes shimmering with a childlike belief. "Maybe Jeongguk-hyung will come to us as an angel someday. I believe in angels, you know. You should too, Jungkook."

Jungkook swallowed hard, his throat thick with emotion.

"Jeongguk didn't die because of you, Taehyung," Jungkook whispered, his voice gentle as he held him close. "I know you don't say it, and you try not to show it, but I can feel the guilt eating at you. Stop it. Let it go."

Jungkook's hand ran soothingly over Taehyung's back, grounding him, guiding him away from the shadows within. Taehyung nodded slowly, his body relaxing. Having Jungkook by his side made it a little easier to breathe.

"I'll love you," Taehyung mumbled suddenly, tears glistening in his eyes. The quiet promise filled Jungkook's heart with a soft ache-not of pain, but of something deeper, something sweet and steady, anchoring him in ways he hadn't felt before.

"How much will you love me?" Jungkook murmured, taking a sharp breath as he gently swayed them together in the embrace.

Taehyung smiled softly, pressing his face into Jungkook's chest, breathing in the familiar warmth and the faint, comforting musk that seemed uniquely Jungkook. "So much," he whispered, "that you'll grow tired of it."

Jungkook let out a quiet laugh, his fingers tracing gentle circles along Taehyung's back. "Jeon Jungkook will never get tired of you, Kim Taehyung," he replied, his voice laced with a smile. "Not of you, not of anything you give me."
