When you study a LITTLE too much!
College. NIGHTMARE. You had been at it for hours, nose buried in your Chemistry textbook, eyes glazed over from exhaustion. The words on the page blurred together, but you couldn't stop now. The exams were looming over you like an unstoppable tide, and you were determined to swim through it. Every note you wrote, every term you memorized, was another step closer to being prepared. But somewhere along the way, you'd lost track of time. You hadn't eaten anything, and you couldn't remember when you last slept. It didn't matter. All that mattered was getting this done.
The door creaked open. Heeseung stepped in, his face softening as he saw you hunched over the bed, your textbooks scattered around you like a battlefield. He had just returned from an emergency meeting at the HYBE building and had been hoping to catch a break, but the moment he walked into your shared apartment, he could feel something was off.
He paused in the doorway, taking in the sight of you still in the same position, your back hunched, scribbling furiously in your notebook. He sighed, shaking his head with a soft chuckle before walking towards the bed.
"Hey, Y/N..." He sat down beside you, his voice laced with concern. He could already tell you were overdoing it. You didn't even look up, your focus still fixed on your notes as you muttered terms under your breath.
"Hmm?" You didn't even look up from your book.
"Did you eat anything today?" Heeseung asked, his voice gentle but laced with worry.
You froze for a moment, trying to come up with something that wouldn't set him off, but Heeseung wasn't an easy person to fool. You brushed it off quickly, mumbling a quiet, "Yeah, I ate."
He narrowed his eyes, clearly unconvinced. "I didn't see anything. No plates, no leftovers... no food smell. And I didn't hear you in the kitchen." He wasn't accusing you; it was more of a statement, but the seriousness in his tone made you shift uncomfortably.
Before you could offer another excuse, he cut you off, his voice now more firm. "I don't like what's happening to you, Y/N. This... this isn't healthy. You need food. And you need sleep. You've been up for hours, barely moving."
You opened your mouth to protest, but Heeseung wasn't having it. His gaze softened, but his tone remained strong. "No more studying. You need to take care of yourself first. Everything else can wait."
You shook your head, frowning as you tried to turn back to your notes. "I'll take a break after I finish these terms," you muttered stubbornly.
Heeseung's patience, already running thin, finally broke. His arms were around you before you even realized what was happening. "No," he said simply, his voice holding a note of finality. He picked you up from the bed, ignoring your surprised gasp, and carried you easily in his arms, much like you weighed nothing.
You squirmed slightly, trying to protest. "Heeseung, I—"
"Shh." Heeseung cut you off with a soft chuckle, his grip tightening slightly as he walked toward the kitchen. "You're going to eat, and you're going to rest, whether you like it or not."
You grumbled in protest, but the warmth of his arms and the strength in his hold made it impossible to argue further. The moment you stepped into the kitchen, you were hit with the aroma of something delicious. Your stomach growled in response.
Heeseung placed you gently on the kitchen counter and walked over to the stove. You watched, captivated, as he moved expertly around the kitchen, pulling out ingredients, and before long, a steaming bowl of ramen was placed in front of you, surrounded by your favorite vegetables. The smell hit you like a bomb, and despite your previous resistance, your mouth watered.
Heeseung sat down beside you, looking at you with a gentle smile. "Eat," he said, his tone soft but commanding.
You shook your head, your appetite still not fully recovered from hours of stressing over your work. "I'm not really in the mood..."
Heeseung raised an eyebrow, his playful smirk still there, but this time it was tinged with seriousness. "I didn't ask for your permission, Y/N. I'm telling you to eat before I make you" His voice held a mix of concern and authority that made you pause.
You sighed, your shoulders slumping as you realized he wasn't going to let up. Slowly, you picked up the chopsticks and dug in. The warmth and flavor of the ramen were comforting, and you couldn't deny the relief it brought. You ate in silence, Heeseung watching you carefully, his gaze soft and affectionate. Once you finished, he gave you a gentle pat on the head.
"That's better," he murmured, pulling you up from your seat. "Now, time for you to get some rest."
"No, I still have more studying to do," you protested weakly, your eyes already drooping as you leaned against him.
Heeseung sighed, taking your hands and gently pulling you toward the bedroom. "You've been rereading the entire textbook for hours. You need a break."
You sighed, giving in despite your best efforts to keep going. Heeseung was right. Your body was exhausted, and the last thing you wanted was to disappoint him. As you entered the bedroom, Heeseung kissed your forehead gently, his hand brushing your hair from your face.
"I'll be here when you wake up. Rest, okay? You need it."
With a tired smile, you nodded, slipping into bed. Heeseung pulled the covers over you, his presence so comforting that you didn't even fight it. You closed your eyes, feeling his warm hand rest on yours. As sleep finally overtook you, you felt safe, loved, and cared for, knowing that Heeseung was there for you through all of it.
And soon, in the calm of his arms, you both drifted into a peaceful sleep.
