"Wait... your child?" Phum repeated in shock.
"Yes," Day responded with a nod as he placed the selected diapers into his shopping cart.
"Did you adopted?" Phum asked once he regained his composure.
"No, I use a surrogate. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave," Day replied and moved away, leaving Phum standing there in disbelief. Day continued to walk and shop for other items. Fortunately, Phum didn’t follow him because his friends had come to ask him to buy things together.
Ring... Ring... Ring
Day’s phone rang. He picked it up and answered.
"Hello, Kom," Day said casually when he recognized the caller.
"Tomorrow, huh? ... Mm-hmm ... Alright ... Yes ... No problem ... Goodbye," Day said, ending the call with Kom, who wanted Day to come up to discuss the renovation plans for connecting two houses, and he wanted Day to check on some work in person. After hanging up with Kom, Day bought a few more household items that Brick mentioned were running low and headed straight home. Upon arriving, he put the purchased items away and sat down to chat with Brick.
"Hey Brick, tomorrow I have to go to Bangkok to discuss the house renovation with Kom; he scheduled me for 1 PM," Day said.
"Go ahead," Brick replied.
"And what about you? Are you coming with me?" Day asked. Brick paused to think for a moment.
"You can go back alone. I’ll stay here with the baby. We’ll have to be here for a while anyway, right? Just come back when you’re done," Brick replied, as he didn’t want to drag the baby along for the trip. Day was worried, however, about Brick being alone with the baby.
"I don’t know if I’ll make it back at a good time. I don’t want you to be alone with the baby," Day said.
"Day, if it gets dark, just stay overnight in Bangkok. Don’t drive back late. As for me, if you stay over, I’ll call P’Belle to keep me company," Brick suggested, trying to ease his lover’s worry. Brick knew well that Day was much more exhausted, having to care for the baby while balancing work and family matters.
"Hmm, if I don’t return, I’ll call P’Belle. During the day, I’ll have Bank come by to keep you company," Day said. Even though he felt a little relieved, he still worried about Brick. Since they had the baby together, they had never been apart.
"That’s fine. You don’t have to worry about me," Brick said with a smile. Day nodded in agreement before he called Phai and Bank to come over for dinner and asked them to help look after Brick while he had to head back to Bangkok to check on the house. Both agreed to keep an eye on him.
.......
"Drive carefully and don’t rush," Brick advised Day early the next day since Day was leaving for Bangkok that morning.
"Yeah, you just stay safe at home. If there's anything urgent, call P’Belle or those guys, okay?" Day instructed.
"Why can't I just call you?" Brick asked playfully.
"If there’s an urgent matter, call me, and I’ll come to see you. Call someone close first, then call me," Day reiterated. Brick smiled and promised not to worry. Day leaned down and kissed their son softly on both cheeks.
"Stay with your Daddy Brick, and don’t be fussy. If I can’t get back on time today, you can sleep with your Daddy tonight," Day said gently to his son, who gazed at him intently.
"I’m leaving now. I’ll call you when I arrive," Day said before he made his way to Bangkok.
"Now it’s just the two of us, son," Brick said to little Ob as he carried him inside. Day had prepared food at home for Brick. Brick found it easy to take care of little Ob by himself, partly because Ob wasn’t too fussy.
