Halloween

"Day, in the village group chat, they announced some news," Brick said to Day while Day was in the office within the newly opened auto parts shop.

"What news?" Day asked back.

"About Halloween. The village is asking residents to cooperate in decorating their houses with a Halloween theme. If anyone does a good job, there will be prizes. And on the 31st, there will be activities for the children at the central village park, and there will also be a trick-or-treat event," Brick explained to Day, giving him the gist.

"We've lived here for so long, why are there activities now?" Day asked curiously.

"I think they changed the condo management team, so they want to build relationships among the villagers," Brick added.

"You like that, huh?" Day teased his lover. Brick let out a soft laugh.

"Yes. It's perfect. We have two children. We can dress them up and go ask for candy from the houses of those participating in the event. They're letting us list the house numbers that are joining the activity," Brick replied cheerfully, as he was also thinking about what activities to take the children to this Halloween.

"If you're okay with it, sign us up. I'm fine either way," Day said back. So Brick signed up for the activity. Not long after, Nick called.

"Hello?" Brick answered his friend's call.

("Did you see the activities the village posted in LINE?") Nick asked back.

"I saw it. I've already signed up. Did you see it?" Brick replied.

("Really? I haven't had a chance to look further. I was going to ask about that. Neil and I talked, and we won't be participating because we'll join you at your house instead. We'll just wait for the kids' candy at your place.") Nick replied.

"That's fine, it sounds fun. It's probably the first year our village has announced activities like this," Brick said back.

("Yeah, I was thinking of ordering costumes for the kids too.") Nick mentioned.

"Hey, hey, please let me order clothes for my kids," Brick quickly interrupted his best friend. Nick laughed heartily.

("Okay, okay, fine.") Nick conceded, letting Brick order the Halloween-themed outfits for Ob and Anda. They talked about the event for a little longer before hanging up.

"So, on Halloween, Neil and Nick will come to our house to hand out candy. Day..." Brick called out to Day, drawing out his name. Day narrowed his eyes slightly at his lover.

"What are you trying to beg for?" Day asked back. Brick smiled right away.

"Let's go buy some decorations for the house. They’ve said there will be prizes too," Brick coaxed.

"Take the kids with us, then. If we buy decorations that scare them, we won't be able to put them up," Day warned, which made Brick pause.

"True. If we buy scary stuff to decorate, the kids will definitely freak out," Brick said with an awkward little laugh.
